I can take a road trip and check out the weak spots for you if you want
I'd test drive it check for any noise from the back end like turbine for rear wheel bearing. Check for trans slippage. There is a how to document listed under the How To link on the top of the page.

Re: 106000 miles svx

I'd have a knowledgeable independent Subaru mechanic take a look at it...

and do check the blue-book value, and maybe peruse the classifieds here to see what pristine cars tend to be put up for, in terms of price.

It sounds slightly high, but if it is truly good, and mechanically sound, I can think of worse cars to spend that much money on.

I wouldn't kick myself too hard after spending that on a pristine SVX, although I would probably try to negotiate to try to get down to maybe 5 grand even.

I'd be more worried about some mechanical problem popping up like a jack-in-the-box shortly after buying the car, so I would probably have it inspected pretty thoroughly by someone who knows Subaru AWD, and boxer engines.

If it is in that good of shape, it is a fair price. Did you get a VIN so you could use Carfax?

I think a more appropriate price would be in the $4500-4750 range. I suspect if you flashed that amount of cash it would be accepted.

Thumbs up Re: 106000 miles svx

I think its a fair price, especially for a dealer, if all checks out okay. I would definitly car fax it and have it inspected. And I am sure you could talk him down if you wave cash in his face.

Re: 106000 miles svx

Recently there was a very similar car in Virginia Beach for sale - 96, teal, tan leather, 105K miles, that they stated was in great shape. It almost sounds like this car - wonder if it IS the same one and they want to make a quick profit.

This particular dealership was was originally asking $4990, but reduced it to $3990. Like one of the other responders, I would think they'd take $4,500 (or even $4K).
