Gear shift area (buttons) = boo.

It was a nice idea but they will not fit. Damn it. Plus, it's a hot mess under that boxy square piece of crap excuse for a gear shifter cover. I'm not sure if cutting somehow would work but I've been toying with the idea of just designing my own gear shift work area anyways and just scrap the center piece altogether.

It doesn't exactly match my blue led mods anyways... and is sort of rough and dated, also. I've got some ideas and may possibly seek assistance from someone technically inclined enough with resistors/LEDs in the near future for switching of lights and so forth. (anyone wish to put their name forward when the time comes?) Hopefully by the end of March would be ideal.

*and ugh. I need new carpet bad! I guess it will have to be a custom job? (or does anyone know where I can source new oem carpet by chance?*

The P/N for the beige carpet is 95010PA021DO and is $646.00 from subaruparts.com. I don't know if it is still available, but your dealer should be able to research it for you.

You should be able to find a used one for a lot less.

Re: Gear shift area (buttons) = boo.

Ouch. That is pricey... but I guess I wasn't really expecting much less.
New suede door sides, new carpet and new seats are what I'm aiming for and that should bring the interior up to speed in a crescent fresh sort of way.

Thanks for the info I did a search on their site and it didn't come back anything when I punched in carpet. (ahh, it's listed as mat floor) $730ish shipped. uck. Buuut... mine IS trashed...

Re: Gear shift area (buttons) = boo.

Go to an auto upholstry shop or something similar. They should be able to make you a full carpet for a much better price if you bring the old one in. As long as the foam underneath the carpet is in good shape yet, should be a piece of cake. Just call around to find a shop that will do it
