Electric door lock upgrade
Can I EASILY modify my 92 SVX to have the door lock/unlock button in the shifter console like the following models? I really like this feature in my GF's 94.
Is the wiring already in place if I get a later console and plug it in? thanks |

Re: Electric door lock upgrade
I don't think the wiring for the console switch would be there on the earlier ones, but it shouldn't be too hard to install a switch in your existing console and run 2 wires from it over to your present switch and tap into them.

Re: Electric door lock upgrade
You do realize all you need to do is push down the driver's side lock and the passenger side automatically locks, right?

Re: Electric door lock upgrade
Yes, I realize that. I like the convenience of the switch at my fingertips rather than the reach around the opposite shoulder routine. I am ummm, large, what can I say?

Ok, no problem. I just know some people don't realize how the locks work in the 92's

Re: Electric door lock upgrade
I am thinking about an actual button myself, reaching for the door lock which is slightly behind my shoulder is more inconvenient. When I had my security module out I was testing things and just grounding each wire locks or unlocks so a simple spring loaded rocker would momentary ground one side or the other.
