I have a Tom Tom and it works OK once it has loaded all the satellites.

It is actually the GPS that's your problem.Whatever model you are using is requiring a stronger signal than the Tom Tom or the Garmin, and it can't get that behind the TiOx screen.

One way around this problem is to mount an external GPS pickup outside the screen and feed to your unit, that seems to work.

The other way [probably simpler] is to buy a stronger GPS device that can pick up the signals through the screen and lock the satellites. And you know the two that will work now.

Re: Windshield replace

My TomTom GO740 live works great at receiving signals through the windshield.

I have found that a much better place to attach the GPS in the SVX is on the side (non-movable) glass. Situated low and as far to the front as possible, it does not block the view of the road or the outside rearview mirror.

It is angled towards me and I glance at it the same way I would look at my outside mirror. The signal is also stronger.

Try it.

That works for me too John.

My unit is a Tom Tom.

Re: Windshield replace

Thanks for the replies on the gps probs, I have a nuvi, but I haven't tried it in the car yet, been using an Etrex handheld. I just don't want to stick anything to the windsheild or have any wires running around, something to get over I guess. We need a solar powerd strong gps unit for our classy cars, Garmin get on it...........G
