If you have your SVX in a garage you think it is pretty safe do you keep insurance coverage?

Do you outright own your SVX? If a bank has your title because you bought the car with a loan you might be obligated to keep insurance on your car at all times. Otherwise I would cancel the insurance while the car was hibernating. Just keep in mind that a new windshield retails for almost $1,000......so make sure it really is safe in that garage!

My insurance company allows me to go to a off road rate for $6.00 per month if I am not driving them. That is 0 miles during that time. If I want to start driving it again, I call in and tell them and it goes up to the regular amount. This is a big help when I have as many as I do.

Hi Earl, who is your insurance company? I don't suppose I'd be lucky enough for them to be a national company? I have several cars that I would liek to have insured so that I can drive them when I want, but I don't cause the insurance is too costly. In Ohio we are also required to carry insurance on any registered car...

So if you didn't drive any of your SVX's it would still cost you $504/yr! That's about half the insurance on my car.

Thanks for the replies. I do own the car outright and don't have to have it insured. I was just wondering what the mutliple svx owners did. I've had full coverage on it since 98 and hear all these horror stories about svxii being totalled out for fender benders. What happens if you have a ton invested and insurance only pays out blue book.

I have had mine parked for about 1.5 years now and just keep storage insurance so it is covered against fire theft and damage while in storage. IE: say a tree limb breaks the glass or does other damage, hail damage, and so on . Insured through State Farm cost 37 dollars for 6 months. when im ready to take it out I just call my agent and put it back under the full coverage.
