Thumbs down Lie on Obama and those who perpetrated it

There seems to be a rumor afloat that Barrack Husein Obama went to a Wahhabi (those strongly Islamic Muslims most of us have to come and love) Madrassa (a religous school for Muslim learning) in Indonesia because of his father for 4 years and that it was Hillary Clinton's supporters who unearthed this.

However, there seems to be a bunch of wholes in this tale. For one thing Obama stated in his book that he did attend a prodomently Muslim school, from the age 6-10 years old, Maddrassa are usually attended by those of college age. Also not all "prodemently Muslim schools" could be Maddrassas. Another thing is that every source, that propigates this lie is backed or heavily biased towards the Republican party, which debunks Hillary Clinton having the least in "unearthing this."

And finally it has been exposed thanks to this CNN article done by an astute journalist. For further proof watch the accompanying video. This has to be the worst mud slinger ever done in the US within 2 centuries.

Hillary Clinton famous quote: We have not begun to sling -- mud.

I think we should have a Muslim President and then use him as a hostage

Ahhhh. Here we go. Let the backstabbing begin.

Hopefully, we, as intelligent, thinking individuals (Proven by the fact that we own the awesomest car in the world ), will not abdicate our political responsibilities by relying on the press for our information.

I believe we're all smart enough, by now, to realize that politicians of ALL ilks try and play the public like a well-tuned harpsichord. This means "strategically" timed release of information -- good and bad. Well-timed announcements and press conferences, etc. Their PR machines are in place well before they commit to an "exploratory" entity -- hell, the exploration has already been done.

Both parties will be out to disgust voters into staying home on election day -- it begins NOW. The more people they can cause to stay home in disgust and become complacent, the more chance they have of ralllying their base. This has been an old PR/Ad Agency trick for years. I hope we're all smarter than to fall for this crap. Take nothing from the press at face value (this, coming from an old newsman) -- dig deeper, think larger and make up your own mind. Don't let the press, family or friends do it for you.

Well,, it seems the real press killed this angle as fast as Fox News tried to make it one.

Nightline

Sorry Foxer's. It doesn't work anymore. Go back to the Swiftboat Veterans, and have them think of something else.

I think this comment deserves an excerpt quote from your link that I doubt most people will read beyond the first page.

"Then there is also the question of who is behind the smear. Originally, when Fox's John Gibson discussed the Madrassa story, he did so by suggesting — as Insight magazine does — that the Hillary Clinton people were behind it.

Howard Wolfson, a spokesman for the Clinton campaign, vehemently denied that the campaign played any role in the smear, to which Jeffrey Kuhner, editor of Insight Magazine told ABC News that his message to the Clinton campaign is: "Sue us."

"If he's so confident that this is a National Enquirer-style made up story," the editor said, "He and Hillary should sue the pants off us, because if they're right they could make millions and millions of dollars. But then we'll depose the investigators who have been conducting the investigation into Obama's background and they know it. This story is multi-sourced … I have never been more sure of a story in my life."

"There are so many enemies for every candidate and they all have access to the media," Sabato said. "It could have been the Republicans. It could have been one of many different people trying to kill off the Obama candidacy. So it's like a murder mystery — there are tons of suspects."

In a statement to ABC News, Bill Shine, Senior Vice President of Programming for FOX News acknowledged that "the hosts of 'Fox & Friends' gave too much credence to the Insight magazine report and spent far too long discussing its premise on the air. Those remarks, however, were clarified on the next 'Fox & Friends' program. Furthermore, when John Gibson focused on the item, he, like other news outlets, presented Senator Obama's statement on the subject. We consider the matter closed and believe the senator feels the same way."

So, don't blame it just on FOX.

No, it's not just Fox News. It was also Insight.

So they can share the blame as co-swiftboat veteran smear conspirators. No problem. A neo-con is a neo-con.

You missed the point again------Insight told the Clinton crowd to "SUE THEM" if the original source statement was incorrect. I think that tells you where it really came from and it was NOT Insight or Fox.

The original claim was made from a small, inconsequential publication "Insight" magazine, owned by a company controlled by the Reverend Sung Myung Moon (which also owns the Washington Times). There's still speculation over whether or not Hillary's camp dropped the jewel, but, sources who know her (Yes, Dick Morris -- an author and a Fox contributor who spent over 25 years WITH the Clintons) say she's capable. As said above, if you're going to believe and be offended by everything that's said during this campaign, you're in for a real poopy ride for the next couple of years -- on BOTH sides of the aisle.

Meanwhile, be sure to tell Dan Rather, on the "real press" side of the aisle, that I said hello.

EDIT: I wrote this BEFORE reading Lee's post -- well done, Lee.
