Another Horrible Idle ??
Alright since my 5spd install there is absolutely something wrong with the power delivery. When taking off in every gear until you hit about 4000-4500 rpms' the power is not there.( you can feel this, almost like a bog but different) Soon as 4000 comes around its like vtec or something kicks in b/c its like a new engine from there on up. Its a pig though right now. No check engine lights. Leaking exhaust, but this was definitely not a problem before the new gears...Thanks for any and all help. I have off on thurs. so hopefully I can straighten it out then.

I understand that but the power delivery that is supplied once 4000rpms is hit is very similar to the way the s2000 feels once it hits 6000rpms. Thats all I'm saying. Basically whatever is wrong with the engine before 4000 is not present once above, and the engine pulls strong.

What does this have to do with idle?

sounds like a possible computer problem. Did you change it? Do you have all sensors hooked up? Maybe it is looking for in input from the auto transmission. There is also a rev limiter in the computer the prevents over reving with the automatic. but it sound like it would have the oposite effect. perhaps the computer is not giving correct spark or fuel till higher RPMs.

1. Check all of your vacuum lines
2. Check previous threads on Idle and 5 spd conversions 3. Have the timing advance at idle checked -- I'm wondering if you might have tweaked the timing belt when you moved the flywheel around during the trans mate up (PM Beav - he's the one who brought this possibility up in another thread). You should have 20 degrees of advance at idle. Good luck -Bill
