Front End Noise (clunk)
I have a minor clunk which occurs occasionally when I turn the steering when the car is stopped. I haven't got it inspected yet, but was planning to very soon. Its been like this for a long time, but we put such few miles on it, I never bothered with it.
Any ideas on anything common? (Rack? Ball Joints? Tie Rods?) Also, we have a clicking sound that comes from the left front wheel which can be heard with each revolution at low speeds. I don't think its the mag wheel center caps. The car has 80K Miles, and has been babied. |

The clicking noise in the left couldbe the CV joints inthe front axle. The clunk could be the tie rod ends, ball joint, strut or rack. Either have it checked out or see if someone will help you find it by turning the wheel while you look for the source of the noise under the SVX.

CV joint sounds right since you're getting clunking on turning as well.
Let us know what the culprit is. |

It was my inner steering rack boot (long accordian style). Anyway, its still intact, just clacking as it expands and contracts.
The rubber must not be as pliable as it was when it was new. I can live with the minor noise, and my mechanic says its not doing any harm. I guess eventually it will break, but until then... |
