My vehicular conundrum
I went car shopping today after ISC said it would be around 5 grand to swap my transmission. With that said, I will be trading in my car and getting something new. My monthly income is close to 1800 before taxes, so money isn't hard to come by.
Here are the fruits of my labor. Smartt Cars in Caldwell said they can put me into an '05 WRX for $575 per month and $215 per month insurance. Said '05 WRX has 76k on the odometer. Good condition. Team Mazda Subaru has three options for me, which I like very much. I used to work for them, so they are helping me out big time! First option is an '06 STI on a lease program. Looking at $550 a month with about $250 insurance. Second is an '07 WRX TR for about $450 a month and $208 a month. Third is a ****ing '04, pile of ****, semi modded SRT-4. $20'000 and about $300ish a month. I really want to keep the all wheel drive, because I hate torque steer. My former boss told me that it is a 50/50 chance on walking away with an STI as of the time they close. Tomorrow, the finance manager will be working on my file to get that % rate of lease approval higher. What should I do here? Do I get the SRT-4, a car I hate with every bone in my body, or hold out and see if the STI or WRX pull through tomorrow. Either way, the outcome isn't so bad. Is Mitsubishi any more lenient as far as their lease is concerned?

Now it'd be absolutly pointless to spend 20 grand on something you dont want, wouldnt it?

I have gotten some info back regarding the install of the trans to my car. It just doesn't seem right to put more money into it than what the car is worth. The car is worth $3100. I guess I'm just kind of done with the SVX for now.

HAHAHA>.. Have you taken a look at many people's signature lines?? Its not about how much the car is worth in dollars, its all about what it is worth to you. If you don't think you want to do then don't but if you you do, then go through with it.... The ball is in your court

"My monthly income is close to 1800 before taxes, so money isn't hard to come by."
Am I missing something here? Are you seriously planning to commit virtually half your net monthly income for a car? There must be other options. Best wishes, whatever you decide to do. Preston |

GM still doing big rebates on the Saaburus? I know when they first came out you could get them with better options then the WRX for about $4000 less.

The WRX TR looks undoubtedly your best deal.... cheaper than that USED WRX, not LEASED, and plus it's not too pricey... Unless all those options are of leased vehicles? Still the WRX TR seems the best bet. It's always great to be in the seat of something brand new rather than a used vehicle

76K on an SVX is practically a new car, even taking the transmission replacement costs into account.
On a turbo car, at 76 K you are near the end of life for the turbo, which is expensive to replace. Out of the frying pan.......
