Trunk Stopped Working

Yesterday my trunk quit working. The key doesn't turn the lock, and the latch just seems limp. Any ideas?

Good luck.... Shouldn't this be under Q&A section?

Rob-

The interior access is probably dead because you accidently flipped the little lever for it on the trunk latch. I would bet the problem with your key is that the lock is frozen. Mine does this ALL THE TIME when its cold out. Put your key in, and just jiggle it back and forth with a good amount of pressure, and it should eventually break free.

Otherwise, pull your seat down, crawl in and unhook the latch. Open it and make sure that the latch stays up.

That's assuming, of course, that you didn't lock the fold-down from inside the trunk.

I've accidentally knocked that flip-down lockout switch more times than I can count. Every time I throw a box in the trunk and push it to the back, I accidentally hit that switch.

Imagine if the lock was busted, he accidentally hit the canceller by the trunk lock, and he accidentally hit the trunk lock-out behind his seat... THAT would be problem...

unrelated, but the WRX has a glow-in-the-dark inside trunk release handle - handy in case the wife ever throws me in there.
