Wink

Spend the $1,000 or so it would take to repaint my '92 Pearlie so the faded cladding and the white on the steel match and so some of the oxidation on the roof and chips on the spoiler could be done over. I sure wouldn't sell it.

i'd have my SVX plated in gold, with diamond covered wheels. the interior would be done in mink, with a custom cooler for a few bottles of Cristal. of course, i'd also have the tailpipe whistle welded in. WOO-WOO!

To be honest, 1000 is not a good enough paint job yet. It is better than 200 from Crapco but a good paint job can run you as much as 3500 and as high as 15000.

If you have a ton of money, is 1000 good enough for your SVX?

re: paint job

Yeah, I just got a quote for a paint job base + coat with all the little dings removed. it would cost $2200.00 that's with the $10/hour discount for being sent from a good friend of the owner.

debating on color..... liquid silver, midnight blue, or that black purple that the accord a few years back. it was basically dark, dark, dark purple that looks almost black if not for the bright light..

any inputs???

Liquid silver - looks good and always looks clean. midnight blue might be rough keeping it looking nice. this may be my last black car - its my favorite car color, but a real PITA to keep looking nice for any length of time. have you checked out the Platinum Silver used on the WRX's (and other Subies i'm sure)? it would make an SVX look VERY nice!

I am calling for the same silver that BMWs use. I can't remember the name but it looks like the whole car is curved out of a huge silver block.

I was thinking the same thing on my ride home excluding the thought about it being carved for a huge silver block that one was all yours. The silver on the BMW is nice.
What about the blue used by Porche, Like a royal/navy blue (I'm sure they call it something else)

Instead of the dark purple what about a black with a purple flaked clear coat foolwed by a plain clear coat. couls be the same thing as the accord I just don't remember.

re: tough choices

yeah, i like most of those silvers. i wouldn't mind a dark color either (not black though). too many cars use the dark hunter type green. too bad you can't get a satisfaction guarntee with paint jobs. wonder if i can talk them into putting one of those car wraps with the color i'm looking for on a panel so i can see what it would look like lol.

Would you wear a full length fur coat with matching fur hat and a jewel encrusted cane? If so, I had no idea you had such strong aspirations of becoming an all out pimp!

If I were to win an exorbitant amount of money I would have a fleet of extremely varied cars (varied except that they would all be ludicrously powerful) including a stock, frame-off restored, SVX and one with so many modifications it would take too long to think of them all, let alone list them.

Seraph:

You're absolutely right! It would take a few thousand, not $1,000, to do a first-class paint job on the SVX -- the Pearl and black. And I'd do it. I did spend $950 last summer to have some big dents removed from each quarter panel and to repaint the white bumper. So $1,000 doesn't go very far.

How about that new paint that changes color depending on what angle you are looking at it? It looks kind of like an oil slick on a puddle with all the crome looking tints of the spectrum. I've seen a Miata done like that. Might look pretty cool on an SVX.
