Anyone replaced ECU pins?

I'm working on another EG33 swap. This one has had several people working on it, and the harness is a bit of a mess.

At one point, someone removed all the pins from the ECU connectors that they thought wouldn't be necessary......VSS, CEL, Test/Read mode....you know, the ones you would have no use for

It looks like they did it correctly, and didn't damage the plastic connector, but I still probably have to replace them. Anyone found a source for new pins that will work in the ECU connectors (the smaller of the 2 pin sizes)? Any recommendations for getting the pins out in-tact?

Re: Anyone replaced ECU pins?

Subaru dealers do have access to some pins. We have a kit out in the shop that may have been complete at one point but now it's basically a box with a couple of pin connectors thrown about. If you can send me a picture of the pins you are looking for or some specific sizing I may be able to produce them.

That is close, but might not be the same one.

They are from AMP (now TE Connectivity), multilock series.

I would search "TE multilock" on Mouser or other electronics sites, download a bunch of related Data Sheets, and then sit down with calipers or a very precision ruler and find the ones you need.

Check out this page:

The right stuff is bound to be in that list...somewhere. Also, a lot of the differences are material and coating, so there may be multiple part numbers that work.

Another one that is likely to work:

Re: Anyone replaced ECU pins?

That is a really nice site, first I have seen it although I can't say I look for this often. I will let other customer know about it! Those small connector pieces with a short length of wire in various sizes are what we have here. You can't get the plastic plug housing from Subaru, just the little wire ends/pins.
