Something very weird with a '97 SVX LSi

I was driving on the highway and my 1997 SVX ABS light came on and my vent/AC fan went out and my horn buttons stopped working all at once.
I drove to where I needed to go and when I tried to leave the Subaru would start just fine but I could not get it out of Park.
I had to use the Park release button, on the shift column, to get it in Drive and get home.
Finally, when the car is on and I am pushing the shift button a clicking sound comes from the base of the steering column, just below the dash where the shift column touches the dash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

*A few side notes: This car was randomly running rough at idle, and even more randomly it would not start when the ignition key was turned (no crank no clicking nothing), but after a few attempts it would turn on.
