Cleaning out HVAC air intake?

It seems the tree by my driveway has dumped a million little flowers down my hvac air intake and now my AC airflow is reduced..

Has anyone removed the cowling and cleaned out in there? Any tips or hints would be helpful. I am not sure what I will find in there, hopefully nothing dead lol

Re: Cleaning out HVAC air intake?

I just finished up with mine. I was surprised not to find much stuff under the cowl, so I followed things downstream and found that about 1/4 of my AC coil was blocked off by leaves and junk, so I cleaned it out the best I could with out too much major assembly and reassembled, with what seems to be more airflow now.

It seems that a screen or something could be cut out and fit into the hole where the air goes from the cowl area into the blower. When I fix the wiper problem (see below) I'll probably jam something in there to keep the little leaves out.

Unfortunately, I managed to break the balljoint type thing that connects the wiper transmission to the wiper arms, so now I have no wipers. Good thing it seldom rains here
