God Damn!!!!!!

>language warning<

MAN! I F*CKING LOVE THE SVX! I was driving back from school today when I passed a new lexus, and a few minutes later passed a 1998ish BMW 7 series, and a few minutes later a boxster.

You know what? I'd rather have my SVX than any of those cars. Seriously, this car is AWESOME. The only car I can really compare it to, and hte only car I would consider trading for, would be a BMW 850 CSI. Other than that, this car RULES.

I agree with Lwin - treat it well.

And I sorta agree with the 850 comment. Although, I've never driven one of those, so given a choice between the two the SVX still wins in my mind.

850s have twice as many cylinders though. Plus it has all sorts a cool gadgets, like when you shut the door the windows roll down 1/2 inch, then roll back up to reseal against the weatherstripping. Also, when you put it in park, the steering wheel automatically tilts up a little to make getting in and out easier. It also has a trip computer, weather warning system, automatic wipers, and I believe some of them even had a closed circuit TV system for backing up. They're cool.

My brother in law had an 850 a couple of years ago. Then he got a Porsche 911 slant nose. Now he drives a 911 Twin Turbo and Mercedes 5S AMG. His toys are nice but he lives to work.

The only problems with all that gadgetry is that in the case of an 850, it could be as much as 8 or 10 years old. Little things like that are cool when they work, but they're worthless when they break because nobody usually wants to pay to fix them. For example, my SVX has heated side mirrors. Wicked cool, but if they ever stopped working, I wouldn't pay a cent to get them fixed. Gadgets are cool as hell, but I won't put much faith in them if the car is as old as mine.

BTW Ca$h, I agree wholeheartedly with you. I wouldn't take another car over the SVX any day. I actually consider this a bad thing because one day I'm going to need the reliability and low miles of a new car, and I don't know how I'm going to top the SVX without spending more than $30,000... WRX is a good deal for 25k, but I'll miss the luxury. I think I'll save for one of those new BMW M3 CSL's.....

No way dude, just restore the SVX. Drive til you die! hehehe. But seriously, at this point, the cars I'd rather have instead of the SVX is very very very short. And they're all supercars.

850

The account I work on at Manhole Auto Auction just had a 95 Black 850 with 76k on it. Sold for 13,500. Granted it needed some work (front bumper cracked on the underside and had 600 or so in damages) but in reality that's quite average for a car of the age. That black on black interior made me drool all over the windows though. I'd take it in an instant and keep my SVX if I didn't have a wife to deal with. Good news though, my insurance goes down 42% as of 11/5/02. The accident that I did $25k in damages to my Impreza plus $30k in medical bills (1/3 of which was for the heli ride) is off my record. Can anyone say time for another toy?

I can put the followings in the SVX.
1. when you shut the door the windows roll down 1/2 inch, then roll back up to reseal against the weatherstripping
2. It also has a trip computer (working on it atm)
3. weather warning system
4. I believe some of them even had a closed circuit TV system for backing up (I already have that).

It's the matter of spending time and money on the car

I've done a lot of both, and I have NONE of those things. Something must be wrong.

The difference between you and me randy is that if one SVX fails, I get another one. If a SVX is in the shop for 3 months out of 12 months in a year, I say get rid of it rather than fix it. I know you are much more attached to your SVXes than me to mine. That might be the difference.

Why would this feature be needed except to relief pressure build up when closing the doors. I could see it's purpose if the movable glass sealed up against the roofline.

I have to say I enjoy the 840 more than the 850. I have driven both and wouldn't take either one over my SVX....now if it was a 7-series BMW i might change my mind.

Just my 2 cents

the curb weight on those things is 4140lbs. makes the SVX look skinny.
