The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

This is the life story and ongoing progress of my 92 pearlie "Delilah"

I bought her in March of 2011 with 163k on the odo. She was PERFECT. (aside from the bumpers)

I drove her around my area in Indiana for a solid 5 months. Had our hiccups here and there, but we got through it.

Now came the big move.
I packed her up full of stuff and made my way down to Florida! Just over 900 miles and within 2miles from my aunts house..she gave way. The alternator wiring started burning and my front differential decided it was time to quit.

Next post - Revival

Re: The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

Got it towed home where it sat from aug 1st-Sept.24th without me doing anything.

Then Nate came in to town to work his magic.

Exhaust dropped with no issues, no crumbling.

Here, we noticed just how greatly my car had been taken care of. One of the previous owners was kind enough to replace the driveshaft and the bracketry.

More to come!

This post - Valve Covers!

Today we got kind of a late start. Didn't get around to much because we spent more time going to walmart and Harbor freight than we did actually working.

It got a little too late to be taking the trans out and using the impact gun and compressor (as my neighbors were sleeping)..so we decided to get the valve covers out of the way!

Here we have Nate tackling the trans lines..his eye peeking in!

Spent the night meticulously cleaning the covers since we couldn't do the trans. (his top, mine bottom) I suck at cleaning.

My young self

Just a random picture of my cams and what not

Next post...Transmission / Differential!

Re: The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

So..tonights agenda was to Rip the transmissions apart and get everything back together hopefully...YEah right. We ended up redoing nate's van because we had to get my donor transmission out.

Then..we decided to just rip apart the trannies down until an impact was necessary.

My trans mount was FUBAR'd

Nice reman'd tranny

And of course, our pal Nate..whom everyone wanted more pictures of!

Tomorrow we have to get everything all buttoned up and hopefully make a Advanced Performance meet.

Re: The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

I'm just going to use this as my overall build thread instead of starting from scratch.

As concluded in my last thread, brakeband failure lead to 4.44ness.

I'll be getting my car back on Monday (hopefully) with a grin on my face.

This is how it sits now:
Rear end is done. Swapped the right rear axle for non-svx specific axle. (thanks for the info Nate). 04 Forester rear diff w/ LSD.

Good to hear you're getting it fixed man! It is quite disheartening to have to suffer through this mess... and anything more than once is just pure passion.
I thought I'd get lucky and doge the bullet but not to be.

What do you plan on doing with the broken trans you have now? Self rebuild/study for the future just in case?

It'll be sitting in my shed until Nate comes to Indiana to pick it up.

So you had another transmission failure after it was replaced in the fall?

Oh yeah. Well you will enjoy the 4.44 conversion, it really is a nice upgrade for around the town driving. A bit higher revs at highway speed but overwise better overall.

It's better than sitting at 3k in 3rd gear at 55mph -___-

Re: The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

Well, I have it back, but it's not being driven because the axle I put in, isn't wanting to stay in..so I am going to try a 2000+ axle.

Re: The Life/Revival of Delilah *pic heavy*

There is a clip that retains the axle in the diff, make sure it is in there and not bent! part #14 costs $1.48
