Aftremarket fan = dead alternator.
I just finished wiring in a Flex-a-lite radiator fan on my eg33 swapped legacy. Ran the fan straight off the battery with a relay and spst switch.
-I tested evrything out and it was working great. -Took the car out for a test run and the lights/stereo and gauges started to fade. -I shut off the fan and accessories and headed back home. -removed the fan wiring, and checked all the fuses and they are good. -Tested the alternator and its only making 10 volts..... Would the added load of the fan kill an alternator that was already on its way out? |

Re: Aftremarket fan = dead alternator.
Maybe you had a short and that was what killed it?

Re: Aftremarket fan = dead alternator.
Are you using a flex-a-lite controller and thermostat kit to run the fan or a manual use as needed switch?

Re: Aftremarket fan = dead alternator.
Manual switch. Fan is run straight off the battery with a fuse and relay, switch controls the relay.

Re: Aftremarket fan = dead alternator.
swapped it out for my spare alternator, this one only puts out 13.4v but thats good enough for now.
Now I have an issue with my CEL? http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=56463 |
