Anybody with back troubles here?

My back is basically 'scrap', BUT
I have found 2 things that have turned me from a couch potato to a HUMAN again!
I had so much back pain that I could get some sleep in 2 hour sessions. This usually resulted in a total of 5 hours per nite.
I went to a Dr that put me on a drug that had more 'negative side effects' than the list of 'mods' to OT's car!!
I had ALL the side effects, but the problem still existed.

FLUSH THOSE things!!
He gave me some OTHER drugs that made me STUPID and LAZY!!

FLUSH them TOO!

Next thing 'flushed' was the Dr!

I found a new Dr.
After YEARS of suffering, I am taking a genaric 'cataflam' with Potassium and visiting a 'bone breaker'.
The FIRST time I visited the Chiropractor, my right sholder was 2 inches LOWER than the left, and I couldn't even sit still without pain.
This was Monday of this week.
He looked at my back and said "You are a MESS!".
He sent in a cute red haired girl that zapped me with electricity and heat, then DEEP massaged me with a vibrator. Then he came back in and did some 'adjustments'. Next, they put me in a 'traction' table that pulled things to where they needed to be.

When they got done, I couldn't stand up!
I sat for a few minutes, then got up and walked to the front. I was in PAIN!! I spent about 10 minutes at the desk, then walked to the Subaru to head home. I got about 50 feet from the front desk, when I felt and heard a loud 'POP' in my lower left back!! ALL the pain was GONE!! I have not had that kind of pain since!

The wife looked at my back a couple hours later and said that I was 'even' at the sholders!
I took a splitting mall and busted up 12 Locust logs for the woodburner and stacked them on the porch, did all the other stuff that needed done, then fell into bed and SLEPT without inturuption!
When I stopped in for my 'adjustment' tonite, I told Audie what had happened that nite!! He said, 'You can lead a horse to water".

I KNOW that he was refering to me doing all that 'manual labor' when MOST of his patients would go home and sit down.

I told him that I do not want a 'disability', I WANT to go back to work!!

Friday, I get my 'adjustments' then get 1/2 hour with Marsha!! She has at least 10 certificates hanging on the wall from 'Massage' colleges!!!

GRRRR!! I better have some wine to sip with my smoke when I get back home!!

Note to self, Have ALL firewood stacked by friday AM. Do NOT have anything to do friday nite!!

Get the picture?? Drugs cannot do what 'hands on' EXPERIENCED people can!!

I do not 'HURT'!! First week in over a year that I can SAY that!!

I 'met' Marsha a couple years ago!! She has GREAT hands!!

Re: Anybody with back troubles here?

me ...
i need to find some of those experienced hands
ive had a bad back since i was 8 and its progressively gotten
worse up until 19 when i had a car accident and fractured/dislocated my neck (amongst other things), since my 3 month hospital stay where i was on my back for about half of that my excruciatingly painful lower back problems have almost completely ceased.
but now i have screwed shoulders one muscle on my right shoulder has severed its nerves and subsequently died/withered away, a permanently stiff neck (thanks to a plate , two 5" rods and 10 screws literally screwed INTO my neck) and hip joints and knee joints that aren't much better .

I currently sleep with a "bio-magnetic" back support brace and neck/shoulder brace ,and i notice a big difference between days working after sleeping with it and without it , after 2 days without it my original lower back pain starts to return and im only 22

You got a 'head start' on being 'old'! I had back problems since puberty, but it didn't really slow me down til I was 45. THEN, it started causing me to rethink how I was doing stuff.

I'm sorry that this has 'afflicted' you at such a young age. It is not easy to 'adjust' your life to compensate for your back.

Jerry,

One word for you. Posturepedic! Best $2100 I ever spent. I can now function with my nerve issue sans drugs or surgery!

This is and will be my problem. I try and see a chiropractor and a massage therapist regularly. Lucky for me, I go to this wonderful place about 5 miles from my house. In fact, I'll be getting a one hour massage today.

Re: Anybody with back troubles here?

I never seemed to have back pain until I went into the military. While I was in I was having both upper and lower back pain. After my time in the military was up I was able to give it a bit of a break and relax. Every so often though my lower back will pop out and I can barely walk. After a few weeks of rest and meds I would be able to get back to life as long as I took it easy.
I was in Germany last year and 2 weeks before flying home my back went out and my neck was killing me. I got back and desperately made an appointment to see a doctor, they prescribed me pain killers and muscle relaxers. That was all they could do. The drugs didn't really work other than make me tired. I made an appointment at a chiropractor near my work in Maryland. The first visit was x rays and a computer spinal scan. A few days later I went in and they talked to me about my back based on what they saw and then I got my first adjustment....
My neck adjustment immediately the pain went away it didn't hurt! My back felt better by 80% and within a day or two was feeling normal again. Needless to say I have been going ever since and feel alot better. I wish mine had massages though but they have some cool vibrating tables.

I went from walking sideways to splitting firewood with a 16# splitting mall and sleeping like a baby!! It only took one visit to the bone breaker! I have had 4 visits so far. I have only scheduled 2 for this week, and will br going on a 'once a month' plan for the rest of my life.

There you go, when you need a chiropractic adjustment,
nothing else will substitute

I made a BIG mistake monday nite!! I DID NOTHING when I got home! I had the 'adjustment' then came home and drank a few beers and 'vegged'. I hurt SO BAD the next morning!! I didn't need to split wood... WELL, I DID need to split wood! To work out the 'kinks'!
I ended up 'power-walking' about a half mile before the pain quit!

IF you get 'adjusted' and go home and do nothing, you will HURT!!
If you EXERCISE you will be BETTER!!

(Learned the hard way)

You would be much better off with back problems

Is that why you have so many SVXes, so you don't have to remember where you parked?

Re: Anybody with back troubles here?

Oh man Chiropractors are the shizit! I think i first screwed it up right after boot camp during Marine Combat Training. We had a 15k hike and besides everything on my gear list I ended up having to hike with my seabag as well. It was supposed to go on a btruck, but I took it off to get my running shoes. When I came out of my tent the truck was gone and the instructors basically told me to go **** myself lol. I don't know how heavy it was, but during the last mile or so the strap on my lack literally snapped in half so then I had it all on one shoulder, plus it was raining so after getting soaked in water it didn't get much lighter. Being a Marine I always told myself I was being a pussy and to "suck it up" as we say. Well after rolling a car 7 times at 70 mph, getting rear ended by a drunk at 60mph and getting t-boned at 90mph I figure I might wanna go see a doc! Being a truck driver doesn't help either. Any of you who have had to drive through waffle fields in Afghanistan should know what I'm talking about. Its like losing your virginity in your butt! lol So I have a civilian chiropractor (who just so happens to be an exMarine!) and already I feel a million times better than I thought possible. In fact I had gotten so used to the pain all these years that I forgot how amazing a "good" back feels!

P.S. My pillow top mattress helps too!

Firm matress with a 'clone' remember foam. P is decided by how many blue and silver cans were consumed. Usually, NO! not a problem.

Just too many years of 'beating myself up' with demolition Derbys, ski'n accidents, smacking a 65 Dodge while on a sled and crashing a bicycle going down a hill that a bicycle was NOT designed to decend.
I 'wised up' before the guys started filming our 'FAIL' vids and selling them to the networks.

I was there, I LIVED!! I Feed myself!! I can still walk, (but it hurts).

There are 'chapters' to be disclosed as to why I have back problems.

There was a song written in the 60's about 'Sidewalk Surfing'... My friends were the first to flood the Emergency rooms with all KINDS of broken bones as the 'Skate board' craze STARTED!~!
I stole my sisters skates, mashed the back flat and nailed them to a board. Sidewalk surfing reached the east coast!

We were using steel wheels and a piece of firewood!
My first 'Purchased' skateboard was a steel wheeled board with a shark painted on the deck. It acted like it was on ice when you tried to make a turn. 1965, price... $5.99!!

I was one of the FIRST 'skate rats'!! I spent a lot of 'quality time' with the CONCRETE that 'Skate Rats' get to know!!
Then, I got into more 'dangerous' things....
