i think we should start sharing out input to this site

This way we can get a better average of what everyone's getting after the gas light.

Why not just fill up sooner?

Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

I've only had my light come on once. If my memory is correct and the SVX has a 62L tank, then I had only 2L of fuel left. (half a gallon). I don't let the light come on any more.

Because they enjoy torturing their fuel pumps.

Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

I've also seen the low fuel light only once. Don't remember what it toook to fill it up. Unless I'm on a road trip it's highly unusual for my gauges to get much below half a tank. In 36 years of driving, I've never run out of gas. Don't intend to start now.

Exclamation Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

I haven't used up my first full tank of gas (filled up after I bought the car on Friday) and my odo shows I have travled 186 miles and I am on 1/3rd a tank. Surely these do better than that! FYI, even though my previous car list is a virtual performance car "top picks list" I drive like a grandma.

So this begs the question, what are you all averaging per tank? I am gonna guess I am going to fill up by 220-230. And I never ever ever let a car get below 1/8 tank if I can help it.

Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

You should safely be able to hit 300 on the trip OD before you need to fill up. The light comes on quite early in my car. From what I have read that is normal. But I cannot remember the exact milage my car would be at since I have not driven it for 4 months due to my engine build I am sad every day when I have to get in my brothers hyundai to go to work. It's such a POS

Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

Highway driving I'll usually get 100 miles per each quarter tank and still only put in around 16 gallons when I fill up after 400 miles.
Drops into the 80 mile per 1/4 range around town.

Both of mine consistently get 17-18 mpg in daily commuting and 27+ on the highway. Always have. I alternate regular/premium and often run gas cut with 10% ethanol. This seems fairly typical; I'd think significantly worse numbers suggest hard driving or something mechanically amiss.

Re: i think we should start sharing out input to this site

My mileage is seasonal. During the summer I see between 28 and 30 highway MPG, and between 19 and 21 in pure stop and go city driving. During the winter things get rather abysmal, and I've seen as low as 14 MPG.

Wow, 18.1!? I have never gotten to 16 on the pump. That can't be good for your fuel pump.

Idk, I've run many of the cars i've had down that low on many occasions. Usually doesn't happen much in the SVX though. I had an 81 olds with a 23 gallon tank that I put 22.7 gallons and 22.3 on separate occasions. That's not fun paying for that
