Ride Height

Just wondering if anyone would have, or know where I can find, the original ride height measurements for a 92 SVX? I'm trying to determine if the rear of my car is lower than it should be due to spring sag... just seems to bottom out with even the slightest load in the trunk. I want to remove the towbar but at the moment it's acting as a bump guard..

Re: Ride Height

The FSM does spec 5.3 inches minimum clearance at curb weight (unloaded). The Suspension section defines Wheel arch height at the front fender, measured from the exact center of the spindle to the bottom edge of the moulding as 380 mm plus 10 to minus 20mm. Rear, measured at same point; 335mm plus 10 to minus 20mm. They recommend measuring at curb weight, with spare and jack, empty boot and a full tank of fuel, using a thread suspended from the arch to determine the point directly above the spindle center. This is U.S. spec.

Re: Ride Height

Thanks for the info. By "spindle" are you referring to the centre of the hub/wheel?

Re: Ride Height

Exactly. I suppose just ascertaining precise center of the wheel might suffice, but to be spot-on you would want to pop out the center caps and use the center of the axle spindle.

Re: Ride Height

Thanks for the measurements Glenn. The left rear of mine is definately sagging badly. Now I'll know just how much.

Re: Ride Height

I think I'm in the same boat so those #s will help quantify it objectively. So, the question is if our cars are "droopy" do we only have three choices: oem springs or the fancy $$ coil over setup or GC kit?

The 4WS version is 15mm lower at the back than the standard car.
