Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

Hey everyone, I'm getting a little over the on and off problems that I'm having. I have narrowed it down and deciding just to change all of the engine sensors.

I'm changing the Cam and Crank Sensors first, I have part numbers here but I'm not sure if they're correct AND also not sure how many of each sensor I will need.

The Cam is.... 22056aa030? not sure how many I need
The Crank is.... 22053aa020? not sure how many I need

I'm not 100% on these and some1 else told me that one is a legacy sensor which looks like it's not true and one is from an SVX I'm just not sure what is what...

Thanks, Jordan.

The cam sensor and the crank sensor with the 45* plug are the same part No.22056aa030, you need two. These are the same as the two on a Liberty/Legacy.

The crank sensor with the 90* plug is part No.22053aa020, you need one. This one is a SVX only, part.

Harvey.

Re: Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

Okay thanks a lot, I'm taking your word for it by the way so there's $600 worth of stupid magnets gonna come my way. Are you confident with that? Just joking

I just spoke to Subaru parts in Sydney they said 2x Cam Sens and 1x Crank Sens for the SVX but he was very persistent in telling me that the 2 x Cam Sens were actually for the Cam INSTEAD of 1 x Cam and 1 x Crank for that same part number/part

Yes this part is right.

2 x Cam Sens were actually for the Cam INSTEAD

This part is wrong. The parts book lists 2 cam sensors, 1 crank sensor, as one of the cam sensors is used on the crank.

Did you price the cost of the two cam sensors as a Liberty part? may be cheaper.

Harvey.

Re: Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

Hey Harvey.

They were around $330 doll-hairs each sensor, I didn't get that quote under Liberty VIN because I don't know a liberty VIN unless you do? What liberty engine is it anyway?

When I typed the part number into 1stsubaruparts.com without specifying the model (SVX). The results from the search didn't have multiple Subaru models eg liberty and SVX that use that sensor unless we have a different engine in Aus which I doubt because Subaru only have like 4 engines in their range.

They are $174USD ea I think from 1stsubaruparts.

They would be the same as the 90 to 98 US model 2.2 Legacy. The Aust. engines are the same in this area to the US.

Re: Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

Sweet thanks Harvey, one last question.

The timing cover front and back and the rocker cover gaskets are off at the moment.

I would prefer to change all the sensors one at a time once every week or so once everything is back together (rocker cover and timing) and running just so that I can narrow down the problems/symptoms just for fun and see what the differences are with brand new sensors compared to the old.... if any.

I have no idea where the sensors are so is it a lot of effort to change the sensors once everything's back together?

Thanks, Jordan.

Re: Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

The two cranks sensors are directly under the alternator...remove it and theyre easy and painless. The Cam sensor is on the driver side rear of the timing cover, remove battery and tray and its also cake to get out.

Re: Just a quick part number confirmation (engine sensors)

Hey, thanks a lot for your help guys.
Wow that sounds like a sick saving.... just as long as the part numbers match up.
