HELP! 430 miles from home...

So I drive my SVX all the way to Reno from so cal.... makes it all the way no problems. It sits for a while, cools all the way down..... I start it up, its fine for about 60 seconds until i make a hard left turn onto the main street, where it stalls out and wont start. It cranks fine, I looked under the driver side timing cover, the belt is on and seems tight. I can hear the fuel pump come on with the key..... it just died after the turn and now wont start! Does anyone have ANY possible ideas on why this may have happened after a cooldown following a long drive? I wasnt stressing the motor when it happened.... was just driving normally turning left. Im stuck here until I can fix it Thanks

Any check engine light? I would probably check codes and if that comes up negative, would probably pull a line from the fuel filter and do a quick on/off with the key and see if you are getting fuel.

I would go with crank angle sensor, cam sensor, or temperature sensor. Mine was very intermittent until one day when it decided it will never start again. Then it was time to replace the sensor and all was well again

Crap, I wish I had seen this thread earlier! If you're still stuck in Reno Monday evening, I can probably get off work around 5 if you still need help! Not sure I'll be all that useful, but a second set of eyes might be all you need?

Re: HELP! 430 miles from home...

Thanks Scott, I might take you up on that. I got Dr apt around noon then im going to be all over this thing.

No new codes, would a coolant temp sensor keep the car from starting? Im going to test that when the weather improves a little, and remove the side timing covers and see if the cams are still in time with each other. Any other ideas?
Popped off line from fuel filter outlet, fuel shoots out of it with key on.

P.S. This sucks!

My CTS was very intermittent and would not throw a code when it was working. When it stopped working it triggered my crank angle sensor.

At this point my car would just keep cranking but never start. WHen it did start the engine was flooded and I had some smokeage hehe.

Did replacing the CTS fix the problem? Ive been reading thread after thread on this no-start problem and my head is about to explode!

If I clear the old codes ive had forever, and keep cranking the engine, is there a possibility that it will help throw a code for the no-start problem? Thanks

For me it did. I unhooked the battery while changing it. After I installed the new one I re-connected the battery and it fired right up.

Re: HELP! 430 miles from home...

So the rain hasnt let up at all today..... 14 years in this town and it hasnt rained nearly this much BEFORE the day I needed to work on my car From the gaggle of posts ive read on the subject, im going to test my CTS, then my MAF, then my CPS, and then im going to set it on fire and dance around it with a spear in my hand screaming YABBA YABBA YABBA.....

Also realized the front tires wore almost bald on the inner tread on both my front tires just from my trip here.... ball joints?? At this rate im going to get home with nothing but 4 rims, a steering wheel, and and my legs poking through the floorboard pushing me along.....
