I'm about 15-20 minutes from Suffield.

FWIW I see 2 or 3 different red SVX's all the time in the Avon/Canton/Simsbury area (different drivers anyway). These cars are still quite common in this area, mostly driven by people in the 35-55 age bracket, who probably would never frequent an automotive forum. In other words people who bought their SVX's because they were AWD and upscale, but aren't 'into' cars.

That said, I could probably get a slightly used EG33 for pretty cheap after today...

I lived to learn the difference, and I hope this kid does too, he's some Father's son.

Re: Amazing/Shocking SVX crash... (TODAY, Saturday)

It's a small world. My best friend runs a local business, and the driver who crashed the red SVX is an employee of his. Guess the SVX driver is in a coma and critical, the other driver apparently died.

Crazy kids.

This is all really unfortunate, as it could have been avoided completely.

The pics of the SVX wadded up like that turn my stomach. Shame the kids had to pay so dearly for being dumb.

If everyone died when they f****d up, this would be a very lonely place.
Street racing is stupid!
Wrecking an SVX is stupid.
Dying has to suck.
Let alone dying young.

Re: Amazing/Shocking SVX crash... (TODAY, Saturday)

agreed, but something like that is common sense, which as it turns out isn't so common. I mean, they knew it wasn't ok, they know that it's dangerous, so basically they willingly stated with their actions that death wasn't that big of a deal.

*and I state this as someone who had two friends in high school die from driving way too fast. I see it in a different light perhaps, b/c the stakes are way higher than the pay out of the game they were playing, I just have a hard time feeling that much sympathy, I'm mostly glad that the man mowing his lawn wasn't injured, being that he was doing nothing wrong. I hope the families of both parties are comforted but I won't feel any compassion for two kids that did something so wrong.*

Re: Amazing/Shocking SVX crash... (TODAY, Saturday)

Are we sure that the one who died was even involved in the race? I'm assuming it was the passenger in the Gallant (remember it was the PASSENGER that was airlifted) that died. A) If the Gallant was the other car in the race, the passenger may not have even supported the idea of racing. B) We don't know for sure that the Gallant was even involved in the race, all we know was the SVX was racing another car, had to swerve, and hit the Gallant. The Gallant may or may not have been a 3rd vehicle and the victim that died may have just been an innocent person riding along the neighborhood.

Re: Amazing/Shocking SVX crash... (TODAY, Saturday)

An svx vs. a gallant? What was he trying to prove.
I did some stupid **** behind the wheel in my younger days. I was one of the many lucky ones that survived it.Very sorry for all of the families involved.
