New guy from Jersey

What's up people? The name's Omar. I bought an SVX as a daily driver while I work on my 240Z. I gotta say that I was planning on keeping it stock, but it seems like bolt ons are inevitable. Too bad no one makes them

I bought the car off the original owner. Black, with some paint chips and sunburn. I'll get pics up tomorrow night, while I'm at one of the regular car meets I go to. I'm going to do a little research and start ordering a few basic upgrades this weekend. I'd appreciate it if anyone here could help me out.

I found a site with a great looking intake that kept the torque box, but it was a hefty $500. Anyone have any experience with this?

Also, the only actual exhaust I've been able to find for the car is one that costs nearly as much as I paid for the car; a Flatt Racing exhaust. A little under $1600 at a site called Planet SVX, which seems to be run by a larger storefront known as Motorsports Warehouse. Somehow I'm sure this is pretty basic knowledge here though

I already ordered a Trans cooler. I know. Any other precautions?

It feels as though this has taken priority over my 240Z, but I'm going to hold out until I'm done building that to work on this. I'd like to keep it as a reliable and fun daily for now.

North Jersey. Passaic County area.

Quick side note: It seems like Vineland, NJ sellers have a bunch of SVX parts on hand. Only issue is that some of the descriptions are...well...not that accurate. Or overly eager. Is this person on this site as well?

By the way, your car is pretty sweet. lol, those look like Nissan Murano wheels. Are they?

West Creek is right off exit 63 on the Parkway before you cross over the bridge for Long Beach Island.

The vineland vendors have a history of bad transactions, poor product descriptions and upset people. I'd be a little weary before ordering from Vineland. If you search up on "vlad" or "buyer beware" you'll find more info on people to stay away from.

And thank you. My car sits on Nissan Murano 18's and has "a few" mods done to it.

Re: New guy from Jersey

A few mods, eh? What are you rocking other than the 5spd swap? Do you have headers by chance? Cause I can't find jack as far as those goes. I've made a few before, the most recent one being for an S14 with a VG swap. Maybe 1"-1.25" primaries for a good NA setup? Though I wouldn't have anywhere near the time needed to do it until the end of summer .

Needless to say, I'm excited.

Re: New guy from Jersey

You should definitely go to the NY meet. I really don't have any go-fast mods.

The general svx network population has some or most of these mods:

Outback 4.44 Trans swap
SVXfiles 5000K/6000K HIDs
Raceconcepts rotors and SS lines
15 minute mod
20 minute mod
Magnaflow/flowmaster exhaust
ECUTune Stage 1/2

If you do a search for these too you'll find tons of threads.

I'm definitely going to be looking into those. Is there an exhaust thread anywhere, where people posted up their setup and sound? We had them when I had my Impreza. Sexier sounds will definitely come out of this motor.

Oh, and when is the NY meet?

This thread should help you out a bit.

It's long, but will save you more money than the time it takes you to read it.

Welcome, I am wondering if you were the one who had called and left me a voicemail yesterday? Either way, it is nice to see another Joyseyite on the boards... Try to make the NY meet and you can see numerous different variations of the car.

Thanks I see that you're a fellow Z enthusiast I've never been able to find a good Z32 locally. It was either beat to all hell, or way out of my price range. I've got a 240Z right now that's taking up a lot of my free time. I think it's funny how so many Subaru people are also Nissan people. Best RWD and Best AWD, respectively.
