I've never had to bleed my brakes before.

Anyone got any tricks for removing the rear diff flange lock nut? I put my impact gun with 27mm and +5 strength/dexterity on there and got nothing.

In the meantime I'm trying to coerce a friend to bring a battery over so I can start the beast. I've got a charger on mine but the thing is barely cranking at all.

---

Almost forgot, my key is stuck in the ignition. I can't turn the acc off. It was fine until I tried starting it without connecting the wires. Whups.
Power is on albeit low, wheel moves freely. I tried switching the NSS to park. No dice.

Re: Young Tom, someone help ASAP.

I had the same problem with my key when i bought my car. The tumblers inside are junk, just push the key in and turn off, then pull out, then repaet. It's like a circle motion but it will eventually come out thn you can start it with any key when you crack the tumblers( I did this for a week). And the good news is that a new ignition switch is like $25 from dealer.

Re: Young Tom, someone help ASAP.

I fondled the release pin under the column and it seemed to let it loose (could also have been luck). It's back to off now.

Wait now it's stuck again.

Got the key out, got stuck a couple more times, but I figured out if I wiggle the release pin a certain way it lets me turn the key back.

Started the car, nothing headers back in my garage. One of the most incredible sounds I have ever heard. I wish I took video, but it was late.

Called my friend to bring a battery over at 6:45.
He gets here at 10:15.

Way too fricking late to be blasting an uncorked engine so I only ran it for about 20 seconds and didn't touch anything.

So I take the battery out and put it back in his truck so he can drive home.

The boy has a problem with the way the fricking plastic cover looks, and spends the next hour and half poking around with it, taking it out, unable to put it back in without my help. A fricking battery and cover. He put the battery tie in upside down.

So anyway, my only problem is I cannot get the lock nut removed from the diff flange. I need to do this so I can take it to the shaft guys so they can make their ****ty flange fit to it and build my prop shaft. Car will be FWD until then.

Tomorrow, er, later today, I'll buy a battery and get some video.

The flange these guys got for my shaft has a slightly bigger bolt pattern so they'll have to open up two of the holes a bit. I'm ok with that. Seems worth it as long as they don't destroy my stock shaft since I may need it again one day for a 6mt.

Re: Young Tom, someone help ASAP.

o and BTW the car won't go very far with the driveshaft out... its a center diff so if the rear drive is not connected it will just sit there and spin and smoke the center diff

Have you fixed the key issue? Did you remember to short the 2 pins on the now empty connecter near where the shifter used to be?

Actually you could just disconnect the shift lock control unit.

Not a Subaru one. That's all I know. They said something about not having the right diameter pipe to fit Subaru yokes.

I have not done that yet. I wasn't sure exactly what it was supposed to do. Do I just run a short wire between the two points?

Cool, I'll try that later. Jumping the two pins on that connector near the shifter worked like a charm though.

I just had someone stand on my brakes as hard as they could while I breaker bar'd that diff nut, no luck still. The brakes actually succumbed to my awesome arm torques.

I'm actually starting to get ticked off about this driveline issue. I'm gonna go back in there and Try to steer away from this direction we are headed.
