Re: Help Asap Plz
Take the valve cover off, and if it's not broke flush with the mating surface you should be able to get it out with some needle nose vise grips. If it's flush, I've had success tapping the bolt in the direction it needs to go with a small chisel until it's out far enough to grab with pliers.
It will most likely leak without that bolt in there, although it probably won't leak all that bad since it's at the top, but I'd still recommend getting it out and putting a bolt in. Those are 8mm bolts, so they do not have to be very tight, I forget the exact spec but it's something like 18 ft/lbs, so basically snug with a 1/4" drive ratchet.

Re: Help Asap Plz
An easy out will work too after drilling a hole. Good luck with the project.
I would fix it and not leave it as well.

Re: Help Asap Plz
lol I think I was thinkin inch pounds! I know they aren't that tight, I've never actually torqued mine, I just snug them, never had a problem with them leaking. I don't use any sealant on them, aside from a dab of fuji bond in the corners to keep it from falling out of the cam cover while you are putting it back on.

Re: Help Asap Plz
what ive always done to remove broken bolts is to use a dremel tool and one of the disk bits so you can dremel out a line/notch in the top of the bolt. then just use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew it

You need to use new gaskets when you do them... Just using sealant will probably worsen the problem. There should be 6 spots to use sealant. On the 4 seams of the half moons on the back of the head.. There are small indentations on the gaskets there. Also in the front corners where the inner covers meet the head. Tom |
