Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

Good news for the US customers. The Exchange rate between Australia and the US has returned to almost normal with a 20% change.

So the US price comes down to $120 US.

I liked the 30% exchange better. I import Alvey fishing reels. Do we still order from Jason?

Yes I suppose you would Gene

I would make more as it is, but to be fair to everybody, I have passed it on, so you all get the benefit, things are bad enough over there as it is.

Yes Jason is still the man for the US.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

Hey Harvey is that a before and after dynometer test you have in your photos? Horsepower at the wheels? AWD? Why is that "after" power so high in 2nd gear? Is that when the IRIS opens? This looks like the most dramatic effect for $120 ever.
225hp at 35mph as compared to 110hp at 35mph is such an enormous change!!! Am I reading this right?
Do you expect the drive components to hold up with this change?

Peace,

John

Giday John, Yes the dyno charts show the difference that the QC makes to the way the box does the changes. The increase is in the torque that is produced by the torque converter multiplying the torque due to the difference in the speed between the engine driven impeller and the gearbox held turbine. When we get a speed difference between these two components we get a torque multiplication, the same as we get during a stall test.

This is how I explained it on the " New Shift Kit Developed" thread;
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...&postcount=143

We wouldn't normally get this as the engine power is turned down, so the torque produced is less.
The QC just removes the TCUs "softening" controls that rob us of good fast changes, lets the box change gears the way the gearbox manufactures intended.

Cheers mate, keep the tyres round.
Harvey.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

I still love my quick change and the tranny is holding up just fine. You really have all the control you need over how quickly it shifts just by throttle position.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

so compared to unplugging the resistor behind the battery how is this better?

downforlow, you must ride bikes?

To compare the two approaches to improving the way the SVX changes gear, the Quick Change and disconnecting the resistor or the Small Cars kit.

The disconnected resistor/Small Cars shift kit, are the same, (except that the latter only does it above ¼ / ½ throttle), they send a full throttle Duty Cycle signal to the A solenoid to raise the line pressure to full pressure.
.
This gives the light throttle change, the same feel as the full throttle change. So when accelerating at full throttle, through the gears, it makes no difference if is has it done or not, it only feels better at part throttle changes.

The fault with them is that the line pressure, and the engine torque are still reduced during the change, and these are the two problems that make the changes so soft and slow.

The Quick Change was designed to cure both of these problems. It prevents the TCU from reducing both the line pressure, and the engine torque during the change, while still allowing the Throttle to control the intensity of the change. Light throttle light change, progressing to full throttle hard change.

The SVX was the only auto to be given this softening treatment by Subaru, the Legacy, Impreza and the Outback were allowed to retain the fast/hard change, that the Quick Change gives to the SVX.

Harvey.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

There are some times in for the Quick Change over the quarter mile. Runs done by Wannarace 928 have shown 0.27 sec off the time, and faster terminal speed.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

Just to let every one know that the Quick Change will still give the same fast, secure changes, with the new ROM changes that ECU Tune is selling.

It will also assist the Performance Auto box that ECUTune sells, as he has now replaced the Accumulator spring that were too hard, with standard springs. This produces a much smoother change, that the Quick Change can adjust to remove engine lag, and speed up the changes.

There will be a few Quick Change equipped cars at Reading this year. Have a drive of one, see for yourself how good the Quick Change really is.

The US distrubitor, Budfreak from the Subaru SVX World Forums, is offering a 'Reading Special' deal of $100 just for the Reading Meet.

Harvey.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

I have one of these, the difference is very noticable and much improved - just cruising around town lightly on the pedal its just better - there is no lag on accelleration, shifts are nice and smooth - I've done about 300km on mine since it was installed and it does as promised.

When you stomp on it, this lion roars tho - its just all power - shifts between 1-2 - 2-3 are very fast - there is no lag between shifting, and the flick between shifts really kick you.

It really is an improvement over the stock setup - and if you don't have one, get one.

Re: Quick Change for the SVX.

Took my car out for a couple hour stretch on the highway, hadn't had a chance to test it on a good stretch as i mainly do in town driving.. the quick change performs very nicely .. really smooth shifts just cruising.

I had no problems getting power when I needed it for passing/getting up into the hills.. after about 750km or so since i put the QC into the car, its really performing well.
