SubieSport February/March 08

Well, I know that subiesport (imprezasport) hardly ever has anything that has anything to do with the SVX, but I was still kinda disappointed in the current issue. World Meet photos of Subarus from all over the world, and still not an SVX in sight. There were a couple of XT's, and some other interesting Subys, but oh well.

One glimmer of hope was on page 47, photo WA037, from the Redmond, Washington meet. There is a middle-aged fellow standing by his impreza with the hood open, revealing.... an EG33! There is also a LARGE intercooler sitting in the front bumper, but I don't see any other signs of a turbo. Still very interesting though.

Just curious if anyone knows this fellow, or the car or any of that?

Also, I was surprised to not see any SVXii among the Jersey group's photos. It seems like 40% of the board population hangs out with eachother on the weekend, and are from New Jersey...lol

Not saying that I have anything against the more famous WRX, and STi cars, but it just kinda gets old seeing the same thing over and over... Just my $.02.

I believe they've got a standing invite to attend Reading
Maybe this is the year they actually show up - plenty of performance mods to show off this year

If I had known about it I would have shown up with my SVX :-P I've been kinda disappointed because "Imprezasport" is exactly what they said it WOULDN'T be when they first started publishing, in fact they did pretty good at it NOT being that way for the first year or so.. I have the first year on DVD

I opened this issue the other day and was like "WTF?" I live 20 minutes from Redmond where they held the NW portion of the meet and never heard anything about it! I'm guessing they advertised it in previous issues, but I haven't kept up on my reading as I've also been disappointed. I suppose they also advertised it on Nabisco and some other Subie sites, but would have been nice to seek out some SVXes since they claim to "love them" (the publisher himself told me this face to face and they have also printed that statement).

I'm guessing with even a week's notice we could have got 5-10 SVXes at the Redmond meet (and only 1 would have had to belong to Earl!). And as mentioned, probably even more in Jersey too!

I think they posted it on the "subieclub" thing, which you have to pay money to belong to (It's not a whole lot, but kinda ridiculous when there are so many free subaru clubs)

they monitor Nabisco... i think they even have their own section, I'm one of those people that @#$@ed at 'em back in the day I came to terms with the fact that they are a pretty good subie mag, but now I can't get it around here, and everytime I try to subscribe online, the site is down i'm sure they must of posted something about it in that Nasioc section...

really, they do have some pretty cool articles once in a while... and I'd be a customer if they let me

Yeah I like the magazine, and I like what they normally have, and I think I read somewhere once that they said that they liked the SVX. Just can't remember the last time I saw one in the mag though...

A couple years ago they actually had a 4 or 5 page feature of the SVX broken out in 3 articles or so. Even had a small picture on the cover.

A few members here were mentioned and gave testimony in the articles.

That's been a couple years ago though. It's about time they throw a SVX on the BIG cover picture and main article like they have done for every other Subaru out there that's been modified. Maybe when Tom or one of these guys get theirs tuned to where they want it we can suggest it to them.
