Yeah I hear the power light problem. I like to drive in the triple digets. Good thing I work 75 to 80 hours a week to pay for all the gas I waste, but is it realy a waste???

That ain't squat, when I lived in Wyoming I had an old 75 Ford F100 with a 390 and a 4 speed that I got for $250 (Wanted a 4x4 beater), that sucker got 8 MPG if I grannied it! (But it would burn the tires into 4th lol) Sad thing is I could have swapped in a 460 and had another 75 HP and probably gotten 12 MPG instead of 8 lol, damn FE motor.

Yeah Steve, every last SVX in the world takes 18.2 US gallons. They all have the same very special flame retardant tank with two chambers connected by a pump.
What can happen is the fuel light and level goes wonky. It shows empty too soon. People then fill up very often, more than they need to. Once you know your normal mpg and the miles you have done, you can ignore the fuel light for a while. 18.2 US gallons. Joe

The most fuel I have ever put in the tank of the SVX at one time was 17.4 gallons... Yeah, the light had been on for two days and I was detirmined to run it till I either ran out of gas or almost did... Main reason is cause I wanted to see exactly how big my tank was because I was tired of getting 290 - 320miles per tank. Well, I finally filled it up when I was at a traffic light and the car died... I guess it was the angle that it was sitting (fuel pump probably wasn't able to pick up any of the fuel left in the tank)... got 17.4 gallons in so there was alittle left in there...
Best fuel mileage I ever got was somewhere on the order of about 28mpg I believe... The worst I ever got was about 9 mpg... But that was during a trip to the Tail of the Dragon in 2006, in the summer... Those of you who have been there know what I'm talking about... Most of the time though I average around 19 - 21mpg around Raleigh... ~ Chris

"City" driving for me is driving to work. A whopping 12 blocks away... What can I say, it's cold out! Also, I NEVER drive my car unless it's warmed up for at least 5 minutes in weather like this. The worst mileage I've yet recorded was 19. Just last night on a 250 mile round trip, I averaged a hair over 28 mpg, and I was going between 80-90 mph the entire time. Also, you guys have it great on gas prices. Just last night it was $3.57 here for mere 92. I know that's bad compared to like... Australia, but still.. not cheap.
I think it's about time to change my plugs though, the car seems to idle a hair on the rough side. In regards to the "tornado" air thinger... I have yet to see ANY conclusive evidence (other than infomercials) that can actually prove it is worth buying.

You're very welcome. It is actually a real irritant that the fuel light comes on so quickly. You have to keep a mental note of how many miles you can chance on reserve. Usually a good bit more than you think.

18.2 gallons, no kiddin'?? Huh, I'd have never guessed. So, is it designed to be like a "reserve" tank or something?
I think the most I've put in was like... maybe a hair over 15.

You could bank on never picking up the last half gallon. The tank has two chambers, one each side of the driveline. It's not really designed as a reserve. It pumps from one side to the pickup side, so there is a certain amount of fuel always left behind. You would be safe running to 16 or 17 gallons, but most of us would not do that on a regular basis. Joe

I put 49 dollars in which adds up to little over 15 gallons. My Light had just turned on. It was below E. My light does a thing where it flashes and then goes off. Then comes back on a bit later. Little annoying. I still am not getting good gas mileage.
