Price will vary greatly...depending on sevaral things...

#1...Who would be doing the work? you or a shop
#2...what manual tranny are you going to use? (Impreza/Legacy 5-speed, WRX 5 or 6 speed ect.)
#4... what kind of clutch package and flywheel do you want to use?
#5...Custom parts, who is supplying / making them?you, or someone else?

All these can make installing a manual tranny's cost vary greatly.

The link in my sig is from the first documented 5-speed swap, which I did for under $1000...but I did all the fabrication, and labor myself, and bought cheap parts, since I wasn't sure if it would all work or not....but that car is still on the road (swapped in 2001)

So you can do it on the cheap, or you can go all out and spend lots of money, just depends on what you want /or can afford.

Hope this helps...

You use a stock driveshaft for the 6mt silly

The 5mt extended driveshaft costs me $200 to have made (not an outback shaft)

Tom,
I honestly didn't know that the stock driveshaft was a "plug-n-play" with the 6spd

6mt's alone usually go for about 3k. wrx 02-03 for about 700 and 04+ for $1k

If you get the whole kit and kaboodle from an ebay seller or others expect to pay closer to 4-5k for a 6spd

Do you retain cruise control once you've got to a manual transmission?

What Huck said.

I will add that if you ground the pin to fool the ECU into thinking the transmission is in neutral you will lose cruise. I wired in a switch to toggle this "feature" at will.
