project II, after the farm

This is "How I spent my summer vacation"...
All work performed by an 'old fart' and a crippled guy. Harry has enough metal in his legs and hips to build a Justy.

Jerrry's pictures do not tell the whole story.
His "house" is like 100' long, goes strait up three stories, and the "easy to get to" side is on a steep, concave, cobblestone trough Cumberland calls an "alley"!
If you fell from the roof, you could call your family and tell them "Good-Bye" on the way down!

revisited.....

As the snow melted and the temps hit 61 degrees, a robin landed in the yard. SPRING FEVER hit.
I did my FIRST repair in the new shop that I bought just before the snow and cold hit.
I did a repair on a 2000 Concord that lost a wheel on the interstate and my son-in-law did a wheel bearing job on his suzuk esteem. As we finished those projects, we made some arrangements to do a 'make-over' on a 79 Grand Prix.
( I test-drove the Concord, it has 70 k miles, wheel bearing noise, a few 'klunks' and some other stuff. I gave the key to the owner and asked him to tell me how much of it was normal and what was 'new'....) He drove it and had NO COMPLAINTS!! I took the wife with me on the test drive. SHE complained about everything from the noises that it made, to how hard it was to get out of and into, how rough the ride was.... THIS is a CHRYSLER LUXURY car!! She's used to driving a 130K SUBARU OUTBACK!!

The only things I hear about on the outback.... The WASHER FLUID is gone, It's low on gas, It's DIRTY!!!

The 1930 Willys Knight is looking 'tempting' and may be included in the near future. It has been ' wintering' in the bay next to the welders, etc., that have been ignored since the mercury dropped below 20 degrees.

Since this is a 'hobby' thing, I don't have to go out there when it's NASTY!

I FEEL the NEED to 'CREATE' somethin!!!!..........

65 degrees!!

I spent some quality time in the garage sunday. I came up with a shopping list for the Britt that wintered at svx files house. I ordered the parts for the brakes today, found the accelerator pumps for the Webers, caused the battery to be fully charged, pulled out anything wet and set it in the sun to dry and put my best tarp over it till the parts come in.
I then finished hooking up the plazma cutter and started cutting up all KINDS of stuff. The first thing was a hardened piece of 5/8" steel..
Like a hot knife through butter.. This is the beginning of a long standing relationship!!

I can't wait to get back up there to see what I can BUILD!!

G nite.

I'm still waiting for the snow to melt before I can get flying again. All winter I lament the lack of snow, but now that I can't go skiing any more I want it GONE!

Dave, I think we BOTH need a break.

PS, Had new windows delivered today for the front of the 150 yr old shack and the kitchen for the planet MRAF.

Harry-for-hire got a real job. I could finance a week's working vacation for a multi-talented man that needs a change of scenery.

last year, revisited!

Now we have to deal with THIS year!
Gonna build a small greenhouse this weekend. It's mostly a pre-fab project since I hauled a stack of really big skids home. The south wall and roof will be a former sliding glass door. I will frame it with the 12 ft long oak skids and 2X4s. The plant beds will be 40" skids, with a stainless steel liner under it, to catch the water.
The windows that I replaced last fall will be re-used, to allow more light to the plants. They will be caulked together to make a redneck double pane set up.

I hope to have seeds planted by sunday night.
