Smile Smoking!

Hi everyone, Well I hate to admit I smoked for decades, but thats the truth. How selfish of me. But the weed rules, and you can't stop. Then years after my wife and I got married, long after we thought there was any chance we were going to have children, WOW the sperm and the egg meet and merge and I'm going to be a papa. Gee, maybe I should hang around and help this new person become an adult. Maybe not smoking would help in that task. My now daughter was about two months into gestation when I quit. Do not look back. just full speed ahead and think how sweet the roses smell. You'll never regret the decision to quit. You'll only regret you didn't quit sooner or ever started smoking. Enjoy that first smoke free breath. Take care, BOBB

****warning to you all****

next week i'm quitting smoking. i've already given up pop, candy, and snack cakes (and i'm eating healthier now), and i'm ramping down from 10-12 cups of coffee a day to 1 by next week.

i apologize for my behavior in advance.

Alan, your last post was WWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY out of line. J/K. Good luck with that and congratulations to everyone here who has voiced their stories about smoking and struggle to quit.

The roses are smelling better each day. My esophagus is killing me and I sound like a longshoreman with a trach from all the coughing I've been doing. I was able to enjoy a cigar last night with a buddy of mine over a glass of Tanqueray. No pressure to even sneak an inhalation. I can't wait for spring when my lungs will start clearing out and I can start to take up jogging.

Keith

Bobb, I don't plan on turning into a hippie at any point in my life, just trying to lose the extra weight that I have to pack around everywhere. I would like to be at 180-200 by next year. I'm already down 15 pounds from 250 since November and I would like to keep the train moving.

Living

Hi everyone, Just to clear up my last post, it was a joke. However, your life isn't. Instead of quiting eating junk food"ie, stuff you can eat that has a lot of calories and little if any things like vitamens and fiber etc." replace that twinkee with an apple or orange or bannana. Dump the Wonder bread and start using bread that has more fiber in it. Try sliding into the fiber thing as your body needs to get used to having something to feel when it processes what you eat. Try starting the walking thing by parking at the far end of the parking lot. A side benefit to this is less dings on the side of your car. We only get one body per life so it makes sence to try and take care of it. After all you can never tall when you might need it. Take care, BOBB

P/S And don't forget the cost factor, in S.E. Michigan a pack of smokes goes for at least $5.00. In Ann Arbor, MI, home of The University of Michigan, you can buy one cigarette for $.50. Those college kids have to have their nicotine. "B"

Can you tell I hate smoking??
I've done it HUNDREDS of times!!! I live in a house with alzhimers, menopause and puberty happening, ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!!
There are more 'SWINGS' here than a grade school playground!! It's a wonder that I don't have an I.V of Lord Calvert ALL THE TIME!!

........quit smoking cigarettes about four years ago after 40 or so years of two packs a day enjoyment. Last year I took up cheap cigars to complement the cheap wine, & to avoid the hazards of second-hand smoke. It's a reverse "control" thing.

Ron.

Good luck with the quiting smoking...if you really want to quit you will

My step-father past away November 14th due to level 4 lung cancer. He was diagnosed in February and only because he had a nagging voice crackle and my mother was very worried. He shrugged it off as a cold. He went through the chemo every Thursday and it didn't help. They decided to try a "hot test". Did that 1x before the doctors told him that they all got together and decided there was nothing they could do for him. No more hospital visits, no more shots, no more pills to take. Just go home and relax. He left the hospital November 9th and by Monday morning at 9:55 he was gone. The only thing the chemo treatments did was give us a little more time with him and him time to prepare for the inevitable.
It's one thing to hear about it happening to others and feeling upset, but it's another to actually watch the one you love pass before your very eyes.
So please...please try hard to quit smoking. It's hard, but anything worth doing is never easy.
Smiles,
Melis
