Wink Sick of Christmas music?

Since every vocalist, choir, musical ensemble & probably rap artist has released, at one time or another, a "holiday album" or two, or three; let me rave about one that gives me chills.
Some of you older timers may remember a NY prog/art rock group from the early '70s called Rennaissance. The female lead singer was Annie Haslam. She has an interesting story that I won't go into now. She also still has an unbelievable 5 octave voice that serves up some of the most beautiful renditions of Christmas carols, along with a couple of unknowns that I've ever heard, (Yeah, as if I've heard them all...). I don't think this CD is commercially available. It's called "It Snows in Heaven Too", & can be purchased at www.anniehaslam.com. Her rendition of "Oh Holy Night" is worth the price alone.

Just thought I'd share, since I can't afford to buy ALL you SVXers a stocking stuffer this year.

Merry Christmas, Ron.

Hmm...that sounds like the perfect Christmas gift for a very good friend of mine living in Switzerland. She's also a Canadian, and it just so happens that she'll be singing solo "O Holy Night" at an English Christmas Carol evening being held in a Church in Switzerland.

This is too good a coincidence to pass up. Thanks for the tip! She's impossible to buy gifts for.

I'll have to check her out, too. I love hearing a voice with a range like that singing almost any type of song, except maybe rap.

With my mind firmly planted in the gutter, I ask the following question:

Does Annie's original painting "Opening to Love" look a bit naughty to anyone else?

Dan

Well, that explains the 5 octaves!

Ron again.

She'll love it, Vera. It arrived within 5 days after I placed the order.

Ron (enjoying Christmas spirits).

I'll vouch for Annie Haslam's remarkable voice. The old Renaissance tune "Trip to the Fair" is one of my favorites.

How many octaves?

Hi Ron, Your post caused me to remember a similar singer from the '50s or '60s. Does the name "Yma Sumac" ring anything. Take care, BOBB

No ding-a-ling here, Bobb. But Google says she's still around.

Ron.
