Trans Mount Dead?

My car jerks pretty good going from park to drive and I have a wierd noise when I am in gear and hit the gas. Some said it might be the trans mount now where is it located and how can I tell if it is toast.

located near the rear end of the transmission.

the usual test is to put it in reverse, give it a quick jab of gas pedal and then let off. What happens is that in reverse the direction of torque transfer tends to lift the rear of the transaxle. So, the gas job would lift it and you would get a thump sound as it fell back down.

alternately (and not sure it will work), get underneath and try prying up at the mount and see if there's daylight between the rubber part of the mount and the metal cradle,
