Angry svx going downward when starts uphill

94 red FWD , only 80k miles, all other shifting is good.

It behaves like a munual tranny car when starts uphill, it will go downward at various speed depending on how steep the road is before it actually moves upward from stop. If the hill is too steep and I push the gas too much, I feel like smelling the clutch burning.

Is it a transmission problem or sth else?

I have bought stage 1 chip and smallcar **** kit, but haven't put them in.

Thanks!

If the hill is steep wont any car roll back a little when you let up on the brakes? I know mine does and every other car i have driven does also.

Going back a little won't bother me. The problem it goes downward like a manual-shift car without clutch engaged. I had to floor the gas pedal to avoid hitting the car behind me, which will cause the burning smell of the clutch. Other than this, the car shifts fine.

Sounds to me like low pressure. Are you sure your tranny is filled properly? Does it behave normally otherwise?

Sounds like the problem. My Volvo had this problem. The tranny would slipp a lot sometimes depending on the load like the engine was not connected to the tranny. It turned out I was low on fluid. Just filled it up and it was fine.

It was my first car and I did not know much about em then. It was a good lesson learned cause no damage was done. Now I won't let the same thing happen to my X.

It's working completely fine in other cases without any smell.

I checked the fluid, it seems to be full when engine was cold. Do I need to have the engine running and check the tranny fluid again?

Yes, the climate control was on at that time.

By the way, I just added an external filter and cooler inline(not in parallel). don't know if that's one of the reasons of low presure?

I will try to add more fluid to see if this is going to help some

Is climate control on all the time when this happens? Are the vents open too?

I don't remember this exactly. For the last two times, the climate control seemed to be on and vents are open too. Did these mean something?

I don't think it has something to do with the climate control ....
this is purely a tranny thing
look gun, when you put the car on P without the hand brake, do you feel a big space in the tranny to when it locks the wheels?

Never know it could be just something nasty coming thru the vents. Happened in my brothers camry. Any time you would hit the gas with the heat or a/c on the smell would almost smell like something burning but the car is running perfect and this was 35 k ago. So ya never know.

I don't think this will tell you anything. 'Park' is a mechanical thing and doesn't require any hydraulic pressure.

Trust me on this one - I'm well aware of how 'Park' works in these trannies after breaking the parts in my wife's tranny.
