Wrecked RIM and wheel alignment

You guys are not going to believe this!

I am driving home the other nite and I hit a pot hole. Didn't think much of it since it was that hard.

The next morning when I check my car, my rim was cracked along the side and my wheel well was completely missing!?!?!?!

What in the world could have caused my wheel well to come completely off? I can understand the rim but the wheel well...very stange.

The other thing I noticed was that my steering wheel is 45 degrees off center (alignment). Can't figure what I could have possibly hit that could have caused so much damage.

Anyone have any ideas where I can get a front drivers side wheel well? Or what the alignment is going to cost me?

good news is that SubaruParts.com lists the plastic inner liner at less than $40.

the bad news (potentially) is that if your steering is off that much you may have damaged the steering rack itself (happened to me with a pothole on a Toyota MR2).

Yes there has to be something bent, as Lee says it could be the rack, or it could be the lower control arm, the tie rod or the steering arm. Something has to give.
Harvey.
