no buy 2, drive one while the other is getting fixed and in a year or so you will have 2 great running cars

Or you could buy 1 late model SVX in good condition. I bought my '96 SVX L which had 96K miles at the time for $5,900 back in the late Spring of this year.

And you think an SVX would be cheaper than an RX-7??? What are you smoking??? I was looking at a 93 tt RX-7 before I bought my SVX... The thing got 13mpg/17mpg!!!! Not to mention the apex seals were gonna go.... That is a given for the Turbo RX-7's... I bought me SVX for about $9,500 back in 2001 and the only maintence that I did on it was the EGR valve... Never replaced the wheelbearings... I did do the 5 speed swap though... The SVX is a great car, but be smart and think about what you are trying to get. Just because the SVX has Tranny and Wheelbearing problems, don't go and shoot yourself in the foot by buying an RX-7 or something else that is gonna cost more!!!

Simple fact of life: The 1990's Japsports cars are gonna cost money to maintain nowdays. They have been through nearly 10 years of abuse (well some were abused.)..... You are very lucky if you can find an RX-7, 300ZX, Supra, 3000GT, or SVX that has been babied and driven the speedlimit all it's life and religeously maintained then you are a lucky SOB... But they are just too hard to find.

My advice: If you really are concerned about spending too much money on the SVX then you don't need a 1990's Jap sports car... That's right, ANY OF THEM... Get yourself an early 1980's Volkswagen Rabbit GTI... They are fun little cars and are extremly cheap to maintain... They handle GREAT and are really fun cars to drive... Plus I think they look hot Here's a perfect example

You gotta have a love the car. I've had mine for a month now, and most of my day is spent thinking about what I'm gonna do to the car, how much money I need to save, when I'm gonna wash her, how nice this mod would be....

I've never been in a Ferrari at 100mph. It can't be any smoother, effortless, and completely sublime than doing it in an SVX, though. This car really does love going fast.

Must not get ticket. Ticket will delay upgrades. Must not get ticket...

Test drive one, and see how long it takes to get the stupid grin off your face. Then you'll know if you're right for the car.

Agreed!

-Chike

P.S. It took me over a week to wipe that silly smile off of my face when I first bought an SVX...

not even in the same league - the SVX is a good "bang-for-the-buck", but its no exotic. driving Ferraris and Porsches at 150mph+ is completely uneventful - its the same as doing 60mph.

I'm a lucky SOB... I had my local Subaru Certified Master Mechanic check out Kitten today (first checkup after bringing her home...)...

His exact quote:

"I've never seen a '92 in this kind of condition. Not a '92 SVX.. ANY '92..."

Tranny is flawless, bearings are flawless.. Seals are flawless... No rust... Sunroof works... Antenna is intact and works... Shifts like a new tranny was dropped in yesterday.. Idles clean...

Steve sold me that car for a hell of a lot less than he could've gotten for it and I am so very thankful to him. She is in immaculate and well-cared for condition.

At 108k miles.. I'm just breaking her in.. She has another 150k in her, easily (again, according to Cory...)
