IF these were real race heads with porting, polishing, titanium valves, retainers, portmatching and high end springs, they would be worth it.

Right now (as far as I can tell) these are stock heads that haven't even been completly cleaned, missing at least one exhaust stud. with pretty valve covers.

Titanium valves cost huge amounts of money. I got prices of around $100 per valve. That is definitly not something to fool around about. I really don't think you would see much of a difference over stainless valves until you were in the super high rev range. Just my $0.02

Exactly... and for anything but a drag race engine the exhaust valves would be sodium-filled stainless. That gets you pretty close to the reserve price... which in star trek lingo..."does not compute"

don't forget $50 for the red bits

think you guys are being a little

harsh.
Call any good machine shop in your area
Get a price from any local shop on the same
service, machine work and parts alone.
Not counting the cams. That sort of work adds
up real fast.
Then go looking for the cams somwhere. Add that
to the cost you have already from the machine shop etc.
Your paying for the convience, parts and labor in a pkg
price. Im not saying its worth $2500 but the guy has a right
to make a living be paid for his time.
Why not compare them to these heads:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...472098455&rd=1

No custom cams, dime a dozen, buy off the shelf Ford V8 heads
Not much of a price difference for what youre getting.
And putting up cam specs usually confuses more people then it helps.
Personally all I would want to know is is built or did the grinds
more then the specs right away.
Experience in cam engineering goes a long way.

See...... sometimes I get the feeling you don't know what you're talking about. How on EARTH would leaving people in the dark about cam specs HELP!? This guy is full of ****. If you 'believe' him, why not drop your cash on them if they're such a good deal? Then get back to use with a dyno sheet.

Wild guess here, but I imagine that technical cam specs would be truly meaningful to a very small fraction of the folks who frequent this venue. The seller of those Wonderheads would do better to bolt 'em onto an SVX and advertise measured gains from a dyno test.

This guy isn't selling these heads outright! These are used heads. with questionable "Custom" cams, AND he want's your heads back as a core. sorry, there's a big difference between legitimate race heads and what this guy is passing off. I can clean my heads and paint the valve covers for a lot less than $2.5K. He doesn'e even say if they've been surfaced or milled (you'd have to degree the cams) but that too is standard fare for a race head.

the BS flag is up on this one.

Cam specs are not that difficult to understand. I can't think of any serious performance enthusiast that would buy a set of cams (let alone a set of heads) without knowing the cam specs. The specs are quite useful in judging how the cams will affect the powerband. If the lack of cam specs is to keep from confusing less experienced people, then how about showing something they can understand like a dyno sheet showing the HP gains? He said 15-20% improvement in HP. How does he know this? Did he dyno the motor or the car with the heads in it? If so, where is the dyno sheet?

I'm sure you're right, but that's not what I said. (And I intended no disrespect to those who know their stuff.)

This is precisely what the last sentence of my previous post suggested.

I'll let you guys know what he says...

You took Dayle's words out of context. He didn't claim that witholding cam specs was helping people. He just said that most people don't understand the specs, so providing those specs confuses them more than it helps them.

Calm down.

Ditto......thanks
And I still believe sure some people actually understand
cam profiles etc, but if you have a degree in Automotive
Engineering, I have to believe you dont know whats best for this engine.
I also agree a dyno sheet before and after would be more of a selling point

Arrow Performance Camshaft prices and specs!!!

The seller on Ebay e-mailed me back with the following info:

I can provide the cams seperatly. The price would be $500 + shipping. This is an introductry price and may increase in the future. You would need to pack them carefully and send them to me. We will have them reprofiled and send them back as I am out of cores at the moment. This may also change soon. Pack them well and we will send them back in the same package. The specs, if you are intersted are: intake, 310 lift and 193 duration and the exhaust: 336 lift and 202 duration. This is about as much as can be accomodated without clearance problems in the head. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Question: What are the stock specs for the camshafts on the SVX? Potentially, how much added performance could an SVX get from these camshafts?

(In the 3.5L NA 350Z, the Nismo R-Tune Camshafts add 15whp and cost $1,000 more!!!)
