Diagnosing bad wheel bearings... HELP!

My car exhibits a droning noise over 65mph, and also when accelerating on a right turn. It's a deep tone - and I can feel some vibration accompanying it. The vibration rate feels much greater than wheel RPM.

Wheel bearing(s)?

If so, can anyone point me toward a specific step-by-step?

I still have alll my SVX bearings intac but I did have a bearing go in the 91 Legacy. If you get someone to ride with you, they can move around the car and stick there ear to the noise and see if any wheel is louder.

If you down shift is louder? In nuetral coasting?

Jack up the wheel and see if it is noisey turning by hand?

Just some thoughts.

Thats strange - my wifes car has had 2 bearings go but they always are loudest around 40 mph and the droning gets quieter as I go faster from there. They are never accompanied by any vibration - just noise. Does the steering wheel shake? It sounds more like you have a wheel out of balance. You could try swapping the front and rear tires and see if that changes the vibration.
