Heated mirros are mirrors that are heated.

Climate control mean you set it to a temp you want and the car will adjust it all for you. If the outside is cold, it will automatically warm it up and if it is hot, it will cool it down. Most new cars still comes with a dial settings and SVX has a electronic setting so that you can accurately set the temp.

Solar glass is a titanium oxide coated glass. It reduces UV rays but because it's titanium coated, it will run you 900 bucks to replace.

I had my bad experiences and my good experience with my SVXes. At the end of the day, I will not trade the car for any other one.

The SVX, especially the LS-L (and LSi after it), is packed with features. I did a ton of homework on the car, because I was really excited about it, and I still discovered stuff about the car well after I bought it. It may not have OnStar or power doors, but this car really is loaded. Some of the weirder features:

*Winter/summer mode wipers with vehicle speed control: The wipers have two settings for where they 'park.' In winter mode, they don't hide themselves under the hood. They also adjust to the car's current speed.

*Heated mirrors you mentioned. If they're frosty in the morning or collect snow while you drive, hit the buttom and they clear up.

*Speed-sensitive steering: The amount of assist the steering gives you depnds on the vehicle's current speed. At slower speeds, it helps out a lot. At higher speeds, the steering gets heavier. Because the designers didn't have to compromise on steering weight and feel, the car is a lot more confidence-inspiring to drive at, say, 130mph,.

*Dash 'bright' button. I drive with my headlights on during the day. Unfortunately, the dash lights (and the clock, climate control, etc) dim when the headlights are on - just like on most cars. But there's a button on the end of the signal stalk which brightens the display lights and makes them readable during the day.

It goes on. This is a weird car.

Hi Totalpkg,

I like the heated mirrors on foggy days, a real safety feature.
I like the manual tranmission mode for stop and go driving on the highway. I like how quiet the car is and how smooth it is on the highway.

I think a very nice feature is the wieght. It is heavy car for the size of it. I am often reminded of this when I see it next to newer car on the highway.

There is no such thing is a manual tranny mode.

The manual button is there for locking on a certain gear. It's useful if you are stuck in a pile of snow or mud. Apart from that, it could be more harmful to your car than you think.

Ahh...so it locks the gears so all four wheels spin the same speed, right? I had a 323 GTX that did that.

Well sorry but it not not lock in 4WD it increases the RWD by some amount but not 50/50 f/r. It's only functional when the selector is in 2nd or 3rd. When it's in 2nd it stays in 2nd and when it's in 3rd it will pick 2nd or 3rd. I use it in 2nd for stop and go.

This is another neat feature. With the gear selector in 1st, the engine can be floored and the transmission will shift to the next gear when the engine reaches red line. So there is a good chance that a used SVX has not been over the red line.

Some other tidbits:

speed sensitive windshield wipers and steering

the interior lights elegantly fades out after you have left the car

hidden passenger seat storage tray

projector lights

projector lights with fog lights on makes people think you have your brights on and they will routinely flash their lights at you. this is due to the power of the lights and the aggressive light arrangement

rear wiper with washer

stereo can be concieled with built-in stereo cover

the floor directed heat trick- i think you hit defrost then a fan level button and it directs air at your feet (there is no dedicated button for this. it is the only combo button technique [i know of])

gas door is locking and without a key. it is opened by the interior only

engine compartment has gas-filled shocks that keep the hood open (like a glass screen door). Same with trunk

coin compartment under guage cluster

the car notifys you of things to be weary of, like if a rear taillamp goes out

you have 2 interior light settings: a) overhead lights and doors or b) doors only. i like both modes

you have 3 alarm settings: a) single chirp for alarm on, 2 chirps for alarm off b) 4 chirps (sing it: da-da-da-dit) which i love using during the day (this mode does not beakon the security light) and c) if you lock the door and walk away, about 20 seconds later you will see your car arm itself silently (fog lights flash once). I discovered this about 2 years after I owned the car. This car is full of surprises

last but not least, I would say people staring at you and your car everywhere you go is a feature. Whether they like it or think its ugly, they are still drawn to stare at it and wonder who's inside.
