How do you lose a strut???

So I received my order of 87 suspension pieces (#88, and 89 are backordered)

The UPS guy brought this box that looked they kicked it all the way from the East coast to Wisconsin. The UPS guy said "It looks like they didn't pack it well enough. You might want to check it."

I checked all 87 pieces against the packing slip (while he complained about not getting his break yet today) and I was missing one front strut. How in the hell does someone not notice a two foot long strut fall out of a box???

So he gave me two choices, I could give him back the complete box and he will take it back (and I won't see it for 4-6 weeks, thus no work gets done on the car) or I can accept it as is and file a claim within 24 hours. Guess which I chose?

See for yourself:

Frustrated, but installing a five speed this weekend...

That sucks, Doug! I used to do a little shipping, and we would toss some boxes (little ones)... but never to cause THAT kind of damage. And if we did, it got patched up or repacked. You should have punched the guy in the arm real hard and told him to pass it along to every other employee that handled the box.

Glad to hear you're being optimistic and looking forward to getting the 5 speed in, instead of back at the lack of a strut.

I've had them lose an entire box beofre but not a huge part out of a mangled mass of cardboard. It's a pain.

It looks like they overpacked the box. From where did you order the parts, Doug?

They came from Liberty.

The struts were the only large parts. The other 83 peices were in a box about the size of a shoebox and that was in the crushed box along with the struts and a bunch of packing material.

The box was only 55 lbs and had a rating printed on the bottom flap from the manufacturer that states it is rated for freight shipping contents up to 85 lbs. and the box has 250 Lbs/sq inch bursting strength and "min comb wt facings" of 98 lbs/sq inch whatever that means...

I think it was just run over by a forklift and dropped put of the plane as it passed over Milwaukee
