What makes the difference?

Here I am yesterday driving the toll road home from work going about 60 -65 MPH. I come upon a merge point, traffice is fairly heavy behind and next to me but I left my usual space in front. The driver merging isn't speeding up or slowing down, just pacing me <idiot>. Now I need to speed up and SOON. I press the accelorator down about 3/4+ and it starts to speed up then SNAP! power mode kicks in and I take off like lightning. I think it even surprised the SVX!

I adjusted my TPS some time ago so it takes less pedal to downshift and/or go into power mode. What I don't understand is why is it sometimes like a rocket and others it just accelerates nicely in power mode? I've NEVER had it perform like it did yesterday.

Any ideas?

You have the special 92 SVX that sometimes has an "extra 37 horsepower" (searchable). Other doubt it but your a believer now.

Food for though on this topic... I noticed that my power mode doesn't make that much of a difference in warmer and hot weathered air. However, it seems to make a huge difference in the colder seasons...Anyone notice this, or am I just nutso? Again, Not too sure if overall driving altitude would make a difference either??

Question

I own a 92 lsl, any chance that we can prove this on a dyno and it the extra 37+ in power mode on top of the 230?

Yes I think the effect is less when it's hot out.

You mean the extra 37 Horse Power? or the dyno test?
It's so random the dyno will never find it.

Can a dyno test be run with the throttle just punched? or does the acceleration have to be done more slowly?

The 37 horse. I think you can just smash it on the dyno.

Lightbulb

maybe we should kidnap the lead engineer who designed the svx motor, Im sure people would pay $$$$ for his knowledge, on this site. We can make a calendar to see who gets him when. LOL!!!!

Hey...

Can you revise that chart to show the gain by adding a yellow sticker and a Type R badge? I've been thinking of adding them, but I want to see what results it would have on the dyno. Thanks
