I don't get it. The SVX stopped in the shortest distance in their braking tests, yet they gave it a low rating on brakes. ???

Also, they claim they don't like hte SVXs 'style', yet it's the car most prominently displayed in all the photos.

Hypocrites.

What's really funny is the SVX looks slow.... at first. 0-60, its the slowest one. Slowest in the 1/4. Slowest most of the time. But from 30-50, or 50-70, it ANNHILATES the competition.

heheh

I wondered why that was. I think they may have launched off idle. I don't know.

the "passing acceleration" tests are always done in top gear in these magazines.. for what reason, i have no idea.. but basically if you have a five-speed manny tranny, you keep it in fifth and tromp the gas tat 30mph.. obviously it's gonna take you awhile to make it to 50.. but if you have an autobox, just stomp on the go pedal and let the auto do its own thing..

why they do this, i'll never understand..

re: ah yes

sorry rob. don't know about the bmw 325. but i had my ass handed to me by a bmw330ci last week. not a pretty sight. a old rival i had in highschool. was not a pretty sight especially with his girlfriend in the car. i think i'm going to tie him up and throw him in a ditch. once upon a time....i met a girl in college that complimented my personality. we got along great....until this $hitbag got jealous and spent all his efforts to ruin it. he succeeded but did he get the girl? no. you figure time will make that hate go away, but i think i hate him more now lol.

Just sneak under his car one night and drain the oil, but let it drain into a pan. Replace the plug and go home, knowing you're officially even.

Wow, I no longer feel so bad about my loss to my buddy's '96 328i. In no way, shape, or form did he destroy me...maybe 1/2 car length by 70mph.

re: well it wasn't that bad

well it wasn't that bad. pulled away slowly about 1.5-2.0 car spaces ahead. it also was inching away versus just flat out pulling off. none the less. i could tell that i could never outrun him unless i made some changes to my svx. one of which is a 5 speed. that may even out the race some. from what his friends tell me, that jacka$$ always shifts at the redline. i noticed that the svx shifts at around 4k rpm then drops to around 2.xk. i did go faster once when he misshifted

4k rpm?
Is something stuck behind your accelerator pedal?
You should get at least 6200rpm in power mode

I've never been beat by a bimmer - (never raced an M though )

Mine ALWAYS goes right up to the 6500 redline (maybe just a hair short). I haven't raced any 3 or 5 series BMWs, but I have tangled with 2 740s and 2 M3s. When at high speeds, I didn't get trounced too bad by the 740s... but one had 4 people in it. The M3s could walk away pretty easy, but I ALWAYS wasted 'em around the corners... which is odd since they should handle quite a bit better than the SVX. I actually took one of the M3s off the line up to about 30 or so... then as soon as he got a car length ahead, a corner, and I stroll on by.

I am pretty sure a new 330 could walk an SVX. However, the one I raced with the Aurora never even had a chance... just need to get the SVX up to par (at least) with the Aurora.

Racing

All this talk about street racing reminds me of all the times that someone thinks we are racing when really I was just in a hurry.

The one that was a really good laugh was when this punk in a civic thought he beat me, rolls down the window and then holds up his fingers for victory.
