Installing Starter

I installed a starter on my 96 SVX this weekend. Noticed there are two holes to mount to the transmission. When I removed the old starter all that was in place was a long (5-6") gold bolt. When I went to install I noticed a shorter bolt attached to a ground wire which was mounted to the fire wall. I can only assume that based on its placement and size (2-3") it is meant for the starter.

Is this correct? If so, is the longer bolt meant to go on the upper most mounting hole? Does it even matter? Thanks

Re: Installing Starter

When I replaced mine, I remember the longer bolt on the top of the starter attaching to the trans. It was also holding a bracket with a bolt attached to a ground wire going to the battery. The bottom bolt is actually a stud that bottoms out on the Trans and has a nut on the end.
