I want to build an electric SVX

Not sure if 2 or 4 axle mounted motors would do it. I always imagined two larger flat packed affairs in the middle (floor) with power transfered via differentials. AWD is implemented by setting the power distribution manually to each motor or let a sensor fed cpu control the flow. Possibly the diffs could be electronically adjustable to allow for individual wheel control. Battery packs by the firewall and where the fuel tank used to be.

User purpose AWD and low center of gravity, middie balace.

Me too. But if it works out it'll be awesome. Wish me good luck!

Too expensive...In one of the posts they are saying 8k just in batteries, for a 35mile range! That's insane!

Do what makes you happy, man. But talk to the guy who was doing the SBC swap before you do anything, and see why he ditched the V8 for a Nissan twin turbo V6. Having spent quite a bit of time on the msextra forums, and gained a great appreciation for LSx motors.

I meant the EG33
But yeah, I asked him and his problem with the LT was lack of power and bad trans. His was carbed. Mine will definitely be injected, so that solves the power issue, and I take tons of low/mid range over a better trans! He also said that the LT was an easier fit, which is odd but I'd better take his word for it!
So after quite a bit of discussion about the LS1 and such, I am convinced that a full Vette swap is just too much work. So I'll probably go for a Camaro swap.
Two questions for you guys:
1. What is the outer size of the 4eat? How much extra room will I have for the T56?
2. Are the mounting points for the EG33 the same or similar to the flat 4's? Can I buy a conversion kit(F4 to LS) and use it successfully?

The mounting points are similar to those of an impreza, but not the same. You'd have to try it and see how well anything fits. The main differences between the engine bays of the SVX and newer imprezas is there is more space lengthwise, because the EG33 is longer than the flat-4s, and there is less vertical height, due to the lower hoodline. An LSx might be a little too tall, and you might have to make a hood bulge or scoop or something.

The VG30DETT is awful to work on. 40+ vacuum lines and literally almost no room to work on it in the engine bay. Also all the plastic used on that engine is susceptible to heat and breaks easy.

Yeah, especially if I decide to supercharge! But honestly that's one of the smallest problems! There is a reason why few people have tried this!

Yeah but he says he'll be pushing 500hp! Very decent power

He's also going large single turbo... It will be extremely far from a stock engine.

Re: Got some money, want some power+stick

Get an EZ36 from a Tribeca and a Rotrex centrifugal.

This one was built over here:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...-0r-68613.html

Or just do it with the EG33 and save a ton of hassle on engine management.

Re: Got some money, want some power+stick

The car was built by PhastSVX, not the current owner. Plenty of history on here about the build.
