Question Need Opinions...

Ok, so I need some opinions. I got the motor out today and there are a few things that have me a bit concerned.

Also, before this, a very stupid question. How exactly does one attach the motor to an engine stand. I assume you put bolts through the arm things on the stand into the four holes around the outside of the bell housing (is that the correct term for the side on the engine?). Is this correct?

First:

Do you guys think this oil is due to a head gasket leak? The rear main seal is 100% leaking, but this seems to be different. There is also a fair bit of oil on the top of the motor, under the intake manifold.

This is a bit harder to tell, but there is quite a bit of oil up there.

Second:

There appears to be quite a lot of oil in the intake manifold. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? And what's the best way to clean it out, or should I even clean it out.

Sorry for the poor pictures, it's hard to get enough light inside without confusing the camera

Re: Need Opinions...

The oil in the intake is from the breather for the valve covers-Somewhat normal occurrence and more normal with higher mileage and age.

I Actually had troble trying to fit my spare EG33 on to my dads engine stand.
( Its was a cheap chineese one )
I noticed part of the fuild fly wheel part stuck out to much so i couldnt attach it.
And that i would had to removed it to fit it on. i never actually did this tho

Im not sure if you have the same problem as me.
But on my NZ new SVX it got over filled with oil... and has caused a few leaks.
Any way I think Ive got a leaking plug in the top of my block?
If you see the plug on the pic above to the left.
I maybe wrong. But on my EG33 it looks like its leaking out from there.
Ive got alot of oil on top of my engine.

Re: Need Opinions...

I'm betting most of the fluid on the top of the motor is from a leaky O-ring on the PS tank.....

I already replaced that a while ago, and it doesn't have even the slightest hint of red color to it that I would expect from ATF.
