Need advice on the future of my SVX.

Hey guys,
I don't post here much, but get a lot of info from the site which is much appreciated. I have a 92 LS-L with 145k on it. Interior is in very good shape and mechanically it is running very well. The car has a couple rust spots that are hard to look at. I love the car, but it seems to have brought me bad luck. I have spent far more on the car in the past year than what I bought the car for ($3,250). Last night I hit a devastating pothole that bent my rim to an unrepairable condition. Before I keep throwing money at the car I was wondering if it was a better bet for me to start parting out the car. It makes me sad to think of parting it out because I love how she drives, but she's just brought me bad luck ever since I've had her. What are your guys' opinions? Thanks.

If you've already spent that much money fixing things, a bent rim is hardly the time to give up now. I'm sure someone on here can get you a new rim to your door for $100 or so.

If you were looking at $3000 in repairs just to drive the car, that would be another thing, but since you've already spent that money, chances are most problems your car would have at this age are going to be fixed for a very long time. Find a replacement rim and enjoy what you've put your money into!

Re: Need advice on the future of my SVX.

You'll never get back what you've put in by parting it out. Get a rim and if in the future something big and bad happens then consider throwing in the towel. Hitting a pothole has nothing to do with the car or luck, @$#% happens. Watch the road and stop worrying about the car.

P.S. There's a right side wheel on Ebay for $75.00http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-97...Q5fAccessories

Also there is dozens of other cars that have rims that fit on the SVX. So if you keep an eye out for cheap takeoffs you could score a set of rims + good rubber for less than the cost of the tires.

That's a pretty nice looking car. I like the newer waterfall. Let me know if you can get something better that drives as well for the price of a rim.

What have you put into it that cost so much?

Where are you from? There are plenty of us who have spare stock wheels available.

Ummm... that's a no brainer! Get a new (used) rim. Please don't part it out. We want to keep as many SVXi on the road as possible.
