Re: Aussie high beam question

They aren't brilliant are they.
I fitted 100 W high beams, with a 20 amp high relay. Not too bad at all, just only use them when moving, or the plug and wiring can get too hot.

Re: Aussie high beam question

mine aren't doing too well either. I took out the little parking lights and I want use HIDs in place of parking lights but in place of the halogens if that makes sense. Do you know if the gauge of the parking light cable will be too thin to run HIDs in?

The idea was, you turn the light switch once and HIDs come on, flick it a second time and the JDM fogs come on :P and high beam can be just be standard high beams.

Sorry to go a bit off the subject cam

Re: Aussie high beam question

Well the reason i was asking is that I put 100watt bulbs in and the lights are worse I was thinking that maybe i have the wrong type of bulb fitted as the yanks have a 9005 bulb fitted in theirs as far as i can see, the focal length seems to be wrong ?

Re: Aussie high beam question

Cam, do your cars have the glass lamps, or are they the plastic type, same as the JDM ones and the US?

The reason I ask is this; H3 for the main beam is correct for the glass type.

What is listed in the manual for the other lamps [they way they put it is "Vehicle with headlight with beam angle gauge"] Inner: 9005/HB3

The Outer [dip] is listed as 9006/HB4

Headlight beams are good to very good on my glass UK headlights with standard 55W bulbs. I could NEVER get good light from any of the Japanese lamps. They are crap.

That is why so many of us have gone to the HID Kits. They are about $200 USD, but they are so much better than stock, they are worth it.

Re: Aussie high beam question

Hey Ensteele, do you have HIDs installed? If so, did you cut out the old Halogen lens and fit HID lens with the cut off line?

I'm still trying to find all the info I need to do this and which lens to use.

Do any aussies have HIDs installed??

Jordan.

Re: Aussie high beam question

I don't know about the glass lenses, but the plastic JDM or USDM lenses work just fine. You put the lights into the same place your regular lights go in and the balest plugs into the light wire that is there. I will try to get a how to done. The lights are great. The ones I have are the 5,000 calvin and there are 6K, and 8K. The 5 are a nice bright white color and the fog lights look more yellow compared to them. I have two sets and I love them. I just have them in the low beams because of the projector lense. When I flash on the high beams, it is the same, but that wasn't the problem before. Just the low beams were bad.

Re: Aussie high beam question

Cam,
You can fix the SVX lights so they work well as long as they are glass. Change the highs to 100 watt H3. as you have done. The most common mistake is to put them in upside down. You need to check the locators on the bulb.
