the stealership i used to work for would never cut a key for someone without complete proof of ownership and a copy of liscense to keep on file. We had people all the time call up and ask if they could get a key without any info other than a vin. Some shady dealers out there if you guys are really getting keys with no questions asked. I coulda sworn it was regarded as the parts person was part of the scam if anything went down and they didnt ask for that stuff. Either way theres a business card over mine because id rather be safe than sorry.

You know, it's funny... My father called me an hour ago and said he was going to take my key up to the dealership to get a key cut, since I only have one. I told him to just grab the vin off the dash. He did so, and made his way up.

Then I start reading this thread... My old man calls and said he has the key. I start thinking... And just now, I realize that I swapped the dash with Mike621, and the VIN on the plate under the windshield is not my VIN. So I call my father, who is on his way back with a new key that was just cut, and inform him. He's going to grab my registration card and try it again. Timing of it all was hilarious though.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, scotch in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA !!!!!
