If you have an OBD2 car then why not do a little research yourself?

The first thing needed is a dump of the ECU memory so you can hunt for the fuel and timing maps. There are three connection methods I would try that work with other Scoobies. Most likely one or more of them will work with the ODB2 SVX.

Firstly, try ECUexplorer (see http://www.tari.co.za). I think that one is intended for early OBD2 Imprezas.

If it doesn't work, try the SSM method described in the Memory Dump thread, because the ECU is supposed to be backwards compatible to OBD1 readers. There are OBD1 communcation wires present in the ODB2 connector (see www.vwrx.com).

Thirdly try ROM Raider (formely Enginuity), intended for later Scoobies, but you never know your luck.

well if setting a ecu up for better performance, what are the hp, tq numbers going to be on my svx? i dont know much about these cars computers and the way these engines run... are the cam adjustments controlled by the ecu? if they are, then could you set the for more lift and a longer duration... i dont think im saying this right because ive only just began to learn auto terms >.<, i know this guy with a s2k and he custom did his ecu and he got it to 230hp at the wheels and thats a bit more than stock

If are good at tuning, you may be able to achieve the same sort of numbers as LAN's Stage 1.

The ECU has two main functions:

Firstly it measures the amount of air going into the engine and calculates how much fuel to mix with it.
Secondly it calculates the optimum moment to fire the spark plug.

The SVX does not have VTEC and hence the ECU cannot change the profile of your camshafts.
